GETI 2018 Survey Open for Respones

The Global Energy Talent Index (GETI), the world’s largest energy recruitment and employment trends report, opened on 23 August 2017 for responses to its second annual survey – taking a deep-dive into the rise of automated technology and its potential impact on the future of energy workplaces. Last year’s report by Airswift, the global workforce solutions provider for the energy, process and infrastructure sectors, and Energy Jobline, the world’s leading jobsite for the energy and engineering industries, featured insights from more than 16,000 energy professionals and hiring managers in 156 countries across five industry sub-sectors: oil and gas, renewables, power, nuclear and petrochemicals.

This year’s survey is even more ambitious. Not only will it build upon a number of last year’s findings to assess the changing landscape, it will also set out to answer the following questions in an effort to draw meaningful conclusions about the changing nature of the energy workforce:

  • What are the biggest perceived changes facing the workforce in the coming years?
  • What key factors are driving those changes?
  • What should the energy industry be doing to address these?

“The global energy industry is going through a period of profound transformation – and not just with the transition to sustainable sources. As the potential of digital technologies like big data and automation is realized, it’s becoming increasingly important for energy companies to attract and retain a different kind of workforce. We’re undertaking this survey to help our clients understand how,” said Hannah Peet, Managing Director at Energy Jobline.

GETI 2017 took a detailed look at talent trends within the energy industry, including information on hiring rates over the past year and into the next 18 months, global mobility and predicted regional “energy hot spots,” and the flow of talent between sectors. It revealed a significant difference in expectations between hiring managers and candidates, with candidates proving by far the more optimistic. For instance, more than half of the energy workforce predicted an increase in salaries over the coming 18 months – compared to just 23 per cent of those hiring.
