Responsibilities:
- Chemist II is an individual contributor typically in their mid-career development path.
- Personnel are expected to be working independently and solve problems to support operating units and other technical problems.
- Personnel advise and mentor Technicians, Specialists and utilize networking with other Chemists in the circuit leveraging expertise and experience to make impacts outside immediate section or site.
- Some hands-on work and data analysis is expected but not a major part of the job.
- Networking with site and circuit interfaces is expected to be established.
- OIMS and Safety Programs Understanding and Commitment.
- Data integrity (DIAF) and QP&G Commitment.
- Collaborate with affiliates to develop program proposals.
- Solve major problems using a wide range of analytical techniques.
- Influence method standardization.
- Implement novel analytical technology in refinery/production unit.
- Advises in decisions regarding selection, purchase, validation, removal, and maintenance requirements of test equipment to meet requests/requirements/needs.
- Serve as technical point of contact for site or regional laboratory equipment vendors.
- Support laboratory compliance programs.
- Mentors other Plant Chemists in early career stages.
- Involved with High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), supercritical fluid (SCF), and supporting Exxal alcohol, pesticides, oil fins, etc.
- Troubleshooting analysis.
- Previous experience in a closely related position in the oil and gas, downstream/refinery environment.
- Advanced Degree required in the chemical area; Ph.D. preferred.
- Demonstrates sound business judgement, decision making skills and customer focus.
- Strong analytical skill set.
