Our client seeks a Construction Field Engineer – Mechanical for a FIFO role from Perth, Brisbane or Darwin on 2 weeks on 2 weeks off rotation. On offer is an initial 12-month contract with a real potential of an extension. This role is working on an iconic Gold Mine in the Tanami Desert.

They are looking for a Field Engineer to inspect Construction infrastructure and conduct research on site in order to solve problems quickly. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.

For this role, you need to have a Mechanical Engineering degree and be familiar with the technical aspects of construction machines, equipment, and technology used in different field projects. You should be an excellent problem-solver and be able to manage crises when they arise.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate with clients to determine needs and explain complex issues.
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, research and studies on site.
  • Manage field activities and implement on-site engineering solutions.
  • Diagnose construction or machinery problems.
  • Resolve malfunctions or other crises when they arise.
  • Oversee construction and technical improvements.
  • Install relevant control systems and technologies to manage construction.
  • Inspect and test material and machinery for safety.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of onsite equipment.
  • Supervise and direct onsite crews (e.g., technicians)
  • Draft and submit reports.
About you
  • Underground mine construction experience i.e., workshops, pumpstations, conveyors and crushing stations, etc.
  • Shaft Sinking, equipping and hoisting/winder experience is an added advantage.
  • Knowledgeable in the establishment and application of engineering management systems, processes and tools
  • Excellent technical and practical skills and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely reports to Worley and its clients.
  • Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and a sound knowledge in relevant software.
