Principal Project Controls
Airswift is seeking a seeking a Principal Project Controls professional to join our client in Charlotte, NC an initial four-year contract basis. Strong P6 Scheduling experience is a must!
This is the expert level of the Project Controls classification hierarchy. Workers at this level lead the development of the reporting systems for project controls assignments. They perform complex aspects of individual project estimating, scheduling, change documentation and cost control while reporting up to program or portfolio level as well as trains and teaches other members of PC organization with minimal oversight and wide latitude for unreviewed work. They are also expected to have advanced skills and can work independently. This position typically is assigned to projects classified as “Brown” or "Black" per the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix which typically range from $100M to greater than $500M with a high level of complexity.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a four-year college or university - business, finance, project management, engineering, technical, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years of project controls experience.
- Minimum of 11 years of project controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- Expert in project controls principles and procedures.
- Expertise / Mastery with project management / project controls concepts / computer applications / analytics; employee development; strong collaborative team member; oversight.
- Masters - business, finance, project management, or equivalent.
- PMI or AACE certification (the following or equivalent are acceptable - PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, AACE-CCC, AACE-PSP, AACE-CEP, AACE-EVP).

Environmental Specialist – Charlotte, NC

Our client is seeking an Environmental Specialist to work within their facilities located in Charlotte, NC for a 1-year assignment.
This professional will be responsible for evaluating federal, state, and local environmental permitting requirements, and gaining required permits, specifically sediment and erosion control/stormwater preparation plans (SWPPP) and stormwater permitting for transmission capital project work concerning regulated electric transmission substations and lines.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing functional direction in preparing and obtaining environmental, erosion control / stormwater, and construction permits for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Provide compliance assurance support to the Transmission Construction team that ongoing projects are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Serve on project teams, attend meetings, and site visits, and develop permitting scope and schedule for variety of projects.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of permitting regulations and compliance requirements and their impact to Transmission projects.
- Work with minimal supervision to determine and develop approaches to design and permitting issues.
- Serves as environmental permitting expert for capital Transmission projects and collaborate with multiple work groups to provide specialized technical design expertise and judgment to resolve complex permitting issues.
- Maintain project schedules and accountability for meeting specified schedules for permitting tasks.
- Track project schedules and tasks.
- Closeout of permits, including coordination with agencies, once construction is complete.

Project Manager – Plainfield, IN

Our client is seeking a Project Manager to work within their facilities located in Plainfield, IN, for a 12-month assignment.
The Project Manager will be under the general direction of a Sr. Project Manager. This position is responsible for the management of all phases of project planning and execution to ensure all project success factors are met, including but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration. In addition, this position is highly involved in the funding management and budgeting of the project / program responsible. This position will work directly with a full project team daily that includes Project Controls, Construction Management, Engineering, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting & Community/Public Engagement. This position typically will be assigned projects classified as “Green” per the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix. Green projects typically range from $50 to $250M with a moderate to high level of complexity.
Responsibilities:
- Structure, lead, and/or assist in leading all project related meetings and reports required to ensure open communication between all team members, key stakeholders, and management (regular project reviews, kickoff meetings, weekly reports & monthly reports) and to properly report project status.
- Assure that Project Plan, all appropriate reports, and reporting means are developed and managed according to PMCoE Standards.
- Drive the process of project planning including scope definition, estimating, schedule formation and monitoring, cost control measures, procurement/contracting strategies, equipment selection, vendor selection, start-up and commissioning plans, and integration processes.
- Execute activities like scope definition, detailed design, construction, start-up and commissioning, turnover to operations, and warranty management.
- Manage all matrixed members of the team daily and is assure all project deliverables (KPIs) are being met.
- Bachelor's degree in in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical field.
- Experience in lieu of degree 16+ Years
- 10+ Years of Transmission Project Management experience executing both New & Rebuild/Expansion of Substations & Transmission Lines.
- PMP Certification Preferred
- Utility Experience.
- Construction Management knowledge.
- Expertise to Strong Expertise in project related Scheduling, Cost Controls, Quality, Risk, Primavera (P6) scheduling.
