Exciting Opportunity: Cultural Heritage Field Coordinator

Chevron is seeking a passionate and skilled Cultural Heritage Field Coordinator to join their team. This is your chance to contribute to meaningful partnerships with Traditional Owners while ensuring the success of heritage surveys and compliance activities.

Location: Barrow Island

Roster: 14/14

Indicative Term of Contract: 2 years (casual)

 

Required Experience:

  • Working with Traditional Owners in similar roles coordinating field surveys, such as engagement lead, heritage liaison officer, heritage survey adviser
  • Logistics, compliance and coordination experience
  • Understanding of heritage management and protection processes

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Traditional Owner participation in surveys and consultation on Barrow Island, focusing on the WA oil decommissioning program commencing in 2025.
  • Work with the Cultural Heritage (CH) and WA Oil Project team on survey scoping, planning, and execution to support Barrow Island activities.
  • Manage logistics and execution of CH surveys and monitoring on Barrow Island in accordance with Chevron policies and procedures.
  • Lead health and safety initiatives for the field survey team, including running pre-starts, participating in project pre-starts, liaising with site personnel, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle notifications, incident management, and reporting.
  • Build and support relationships with Traditional Owners, DBCA reserve officers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate Traditional Owner access to Barrow Island for cultural activities, fishing, and visiting culturally significant sites.
  • Support consultation by facilitating on-Country meetings and recording concerns raised during surveys and consultation.
  • Develop a general understanding of project and other activities on Barrow Island.
  • Deliver team communications aligned with Chevron objectives.
  • Educate site teams on Chevron’s cultural heritage management system and procedures.
  • Conduct planning, heritage notifications, due diligence, assurance, and compliance checks during off-survey seasons.
  • Undertake tasks as directed by the Cultural Heritage lead and/or WA Oil Supervisor to support cultural heritage management on Barrow Island.
  • Plan and conduct training and development during off-survey seasons (December–February), with some work based in the Perth office.
