Airswift has been tasked by one of its chemical clients to find a Designer to work on a long-term contract in Freeport, TX.
The position has the responsibility to improve and maintain the plants P&ID's, Instrument Data Base, and othe Process Safety Information repositories.
Specific duties of the designer may include:
- Ability to use SmartPlant P&ID to generate P&IDs, modify and update master markups from MOC changes as well as field verified changes.
- Create future project P&ID’s.
- Understanding and ability to create, update or modify – SmartPlant SPI, to create Loop Diagrams, Connection Diagrams, Data/Spec Sheets, Installation Details, Block Diagrams, Schematic diagrams, Terminal/Junction box layout drawings.
- Manage Instrument database with roughly 6,000 Instruments.
- Understanding of nomenclature to connect devices using analog, digital, wireless, hardwired, and network signal types.
- Working knowledge of PLC and DCS systems with SPI for instrumentation database updates and loop generation.
- Update Emerson RJB and CRJB drawings
- Create piping isometric and equipment inspection drawings.
- Responsible for layout, design, general arrangement and P&IDs of facilities utilizing company standards and meeting project design requirements using industry standard tools and techniques.
- Coordinates with other disciplines supporting the projects which may include mapping, engineering, civil drafting, electrical drafting and project management.
- Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions.
- Smart P&ID (SPPID) Administration: Create User accounts, Preferences Management, Import Spec sheets, Define Plant hierarchy, & etc.
- Includes creating symbology, filters, reports, templates, system maintenance, etc.
- Assist with construction package for Capital Projects.
- Update Equipment folders with latest Engineering Drawings.
- Add appropriate record retention markers.
- Maintain multiple PSI documents. Manage CUI folders in library
- Log and track status of Master Piping & Equipment MOC Updates.
- Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed.
- If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.

Requirements:
- Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed.
- Able to evaluate equipment in the field, including climbing ladders, flights of stairs, etc.

Qualifications:
- Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
- Five or more years of experience in Engineering Documentation
- Experience with Intergraph SmartPlant P&ID and SPI
- Experience in AutoCAD
- Advanced experience with Intergraph SPPID and SPI administrative programs and remote database
- Some knowledge of SQL server
