Electrical Engineer – Perth, WA


Our EPCM client is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their Perth team. This role requires advanced engineering expertise to solve complex engineering problems and support project execution.
Project: Iluka Project – Eneabba Rare Earth Refinery - monazite (and additional zircon), producing a ~90% monazite concentrate material
Location: Perth CBD
Duration: 6-8 months initial contract (with a view for extension)
The role responsibilities include:
  • Prepare HV & LV system designs and calculations in accordance with relevant Client and Australian Standards
  • Prepare Power system studies including load flow, short circuit and harmonics
  • Specification and technical document writing
  • Support and collaborate with designers to develop designs for a wide range of plant elements
  • Prepare technical engineering documents as part of the overall project engineering deliverables
  • Assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team.
What you’ll have:
  • Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 8-10 years or more experience in Iron Ore or similar industry experience in HV and LV systems up to 33kV
  • Experience in software design tools such as Smart Plant, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, CDEGS etc. is desirable
  • Experience to review vendor technical documents and drawings
  • Experience with power system studies including load flow, short circuit and harmonics (all in the software)
  • Familiarity Australian and international Standards & codes studies including developing MTOs/Lists
  • Familliar with cable sizing and schedule
  • Able to work autonomously and communicate effectively with management, co-workers, client and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems with attention to detail.
