Engineer I

Airswift is looking for a BOT Project Engineer supporting solar farm design and construction for build-own-transfer (BOT) projects.This is a one-year contract based in Juno Beach, Florida.

In this position, you will be responsible for managing 3rd party contractor teams to develop engineering designs for solar projects developed for external customers. Project engineering responsibilities span from initial concept definition to construction and final commissioning and require continuous coordination with diverse project stakeholders such as environmental, procurement, transmission services, and project managers for both early stage and construction.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Applying value engineering to balance reliability, cost, and performance for complex systems, along with thorough knowledge of the various applicable engineering disciplines including electrical, structural, civil, and materials.
  • Have outstanding verbal and written communications skills, along with a record of coordinating project stakeholders and mobilizing teams of engineers to achieve business objectives and deliver on customer commitments. 
  • Successfully manage schedules and budgets, as well as managing contracts covering technical scopes of work, for major capital projects for external customers.

Employees in this role make decisions and recommendations having significant impact on extensive engineering and related activities for the company. This position negotiates critical and controversial issues with top level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies.


Required Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required (e.g. civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience. Exceptions will only be considered for candidates with advanced early career experience.
  • Engineering and project management experience on utility scale solar projects is preferred.
  • Comfortable negotiating technical scopes of work with external customers.
  • Engineering and project management in the following fields may also be considered   
    • DG/commercial solar
  • Other technologies in the power industry – wind, BESS, combined cycle, nuclear, hydrogen, substation, transmission, etc.
  • Strong candidates with experience outside of the power industry (aerospace, civil/stormwater, etc).
  • Experience managing either internal or external engineering resources on projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills.
  • Self-starter, eager to learn, passionate about the industry.
