We are seeking a skilled I&C Engineer to provide instrumentation and controls engineering support to all phases of capital project design and execution in Anchorage, AK for an initial 1-year contract full time position, with possible extension.
Serve as the point of contact for engineering contractors, fabricators, and vendors for instrumentation and controls design. Provide engineering support for North Slope operations and maintenance activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Involved in maintaining and applying design criteria, specifications.
- Involved in applying industry recognized standards.
- Leads the development of each project’s instrumentation and control basis of design.
- Ensures consistency of design with Client Automation requirements.
- Reviews design deliverables and monitor the performance of the design contractor’s instrumentation and control design teams.
- Participates in P&ID and other instrument and control drawing reviews.
- Participates in process hazard analysis and safeguard evaluations.
- Coordinate instrumentation and controls interface with other engineering disciplines.
- Assists in evaluation of RFQ’s and vendor proposals for major equipment.
- Review and approve Safety Instrumented Systems engineering and design including SIL calculations.
- Participates in the project risk management process.
- Participates in the development of operation, maintenance, and start-up philosophies.
- Assists in factory acceptance testing and field inspections.
- Interface with client North Slope based engineering and maintenance personnel.
- Participates on start-up team.
- Helps prepare quality assurance/quality control programs and plans.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from accredited college.
- Control Systems Engineer License.
- Previous North Slope or arctic experience.
- Minimum seven (7) years experience in instrumentation and controls design in oil/gas, power, or petrochemical industries.
- Must be able to travel to the North Slope as needed for design support or commissioning/start-up activities.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, word processing software; MS Excel software and current versions of AutoCAD design software.
- State of Alaska PE license.
- Safety Instrumented Systems experience.
- Third party certification of SIS competency.
- Experience designing Bailey DCS, Moore DCS, Fisher DeltaV DCS, TI Siemens PLC’s, and industrial process control systems.
- Working knowledge of flow measurement principles and practices.
- Experience with designing various field bus communications networks such as Modbus, HART, Profibus or Foundation Fieldbus.
