Job Title: Information Education and Communication Coordinator
Position in the Organization Chart: Reports to Community Relations Manager
Main Functions
The key responsibilities of the IEC Lead are to conceptualize, design, develop, produce, and disseminate information, education, and communication (IEC) materials (printed; audiovisual; audio; visual; awareness events; innovative ideas) for the community related activities of the Project.
- Analyse the key characteristics and information needs of the target audience(s), their interests and engagement and communication preferences, as well as the kinds of materials the audience will respond to.
- Conceptualize and propose IEC materials (printed; audio-visual; audio; visual; awareness events; etc.) for the Papua LNG Project, covering a variety of themes and topics: technical, non-technical and development focused, as identified on an ongoing basis in close consultation with the Stakeholder Engagement Planning & Content Development team and other relevant parties.
- Develop layout, design, and produce information, education, and communication materials on various aspects of the Project, Project programmes and thematic interventions.
- Where applicable, develop supportive message packages to enable the effective use of materials.
- Test and validate materials with key identified staff as well as the target audience to verify relevance and appropriateness of concepts, content, approach and medium.
- Develop a feedback and monitoring tool to assess the effectiveness and impact of the IEC materials on the targeted audience(s)
- Facilitate operationalization of the IEC Unit as part of the Stakeholder Engagement Planning and Content Development Function.
In the Project context, IEC materials are a key component of outreach, operational and programmatic engagement campaigns, and day-to-day engagement activities. There is a strong link between the use of IEC materials and face-to-face information-sharing, education, and engagement activities.
- Increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of the various aspects of the Project, Project programs and thematic interventions.
- Support dialogue by providing a means through which stakeholders can learn and be educated about the energy industry and the relevance of it to their lives.
- Build stakeholder capacity at different levels around different subjects of mutual relevance to Project and stakeholders.
- In some cases, encourage positive behavior change and attitudes towards and interest in Project activities and programs.
The purpose of this position is to conceptualize, design, develop, produce and disseminate information, education and communication (IEC) materials (printed; audiovisual; audio; visual; awareness events; innovative ideas) for the community related activities of the major Project.
Required Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in visual studies or graphic design, or related social sciences with experience in IEC materials development
- Proficiency in the use of graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) or alternatives (GIMP, Inkscape, CorelDraw, Serif Drawplus, Xara Xtreme, etc.)
- Five years of experience in designing and developing IEC materials as relevant to what is described in this job description.
- Submission of portfolio and samples of work required as part of application.
- Creativity, innovative mind
- Strong presentation, verbal, visual, and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and with multiple teams to develop and produce effective IEC materials.
- Cultural literacy and sensitivity and empathy towards local communities.
- Familiarity with the application of basic principles of communication for development
- Enthusiasm to learn about local culture and the energy sector and be motivated to contribute to the establishment of the Planning and Content Development Unit as part of the Project’s Stakeholder Engagement effort.
