Our client is seeking for a IT Infrastructure Engineer to work within their facilities located in Perth, Australia.
The Company
Our client is a key player in the energy industry. With a number of projects currently underway, they are looking for IT Infrastructure Engineer to assist with this.
The Role
This is a Perth based position with occasional site visits required. The primary responsibility is as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer who will be a key contributor to the local IT/OT support team, working on operational IT systems. The role will work closely with key delivery teams focusing on operational and reliability requirements to assure safe, secure, and optimal running of the IT and Operational Technology related infrastructure systems, aligning with the technical standards across Software, Security, Infrastructure, Network and Cloud technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement IT infrastructure solutions based on business requirements, industry best practices, and security standards.
- Significant experience, technical depth, and functional knowledge in Infrastructure Systems and a working knowledge of IT/OT industry best practices and cyber security trends
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, storage systems, network devices, and other IT infrastructure components.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively optimize the infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Conduct regular security assessments and implement necessary measures to protect the IT infrastructure from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, firewalls, switches, and routers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy and support software applications, ensuring seamless integration with the infrastructure.
- Conduct capacity planning and recommend infrastructure upgrades or enhancements to meet future business needs.
- Create and maintain documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organization's IT infrastructure.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, resolving infrastructure-related issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure effective management of outsourced infrastructure components.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSE) are advantageous.
- Prior working experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer (oil & gas / offshore / LNG industry background will be advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls, switches, and routers.
- Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and storage systems (SAN, NAS).
- Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting Windows and Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) and knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing IT infrastructure.
- Experience in a support or design role focusing on process control networks, firewalls and DMZ applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in Agile and SAFe framework.
