Our client, a major Oil & Gas company, is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer IV to work on a six-month contract in Edmonton, AB.

The Instrumentation Engineer IV will provide instrumentation knowledge to meet company and compliance requirements and ensure that system throughput, capacity and reliability improvement opportunities are leveraged.


Act as a resource to support the increasing demand for technical knowledge and data from Operations, Quality, CCO, ACM, SCM and Projects groups. Provide personal leadership ensuring that we always adhere to: Integrity, Safety, Respect and Inclusion values.

Responsibilities:
Provide engineering support related to operational events and help troubleshoot system and device problems.
Support SCM and Project team requests with datasheet, material requisitions, calculation sheets and vendor document requirements. Review vendor documents.
Drive technical consistency and excellence across the regions by coordinating with Instrumentation
personnel and regional engineers to ensure all instrumentation data is recorded.
Provide guidance on work approaches for instrumentation on brown and green field projects to ensure competitive designs and operational reliability.
Develop, monitor, and enhance final pressure control element related preventative maintenance procedures.
Be a key resource in the company asset management development program for final pressure control elements and other Instruments.
Monitor and report on system improvements from prototype to full deployment. Examples include: Condition Based Monitoring dashboards; PCV Health Dashboard; Data records created by intelligent devices, expanding PCV analysis initiative as well as configuring PCV control loops in existing tools.
Participate in PHA and technical reviews, with a focus on ensuring that technical concerns are cited.
Participate in management of change process that impacts instrumentation data.
Utilize the quality management system to eliminate documentation errors, inconsistencies, and poor-quality data.
Support the development of QIN and QBUL that arise from incident investigations.
Review and provide feedback to Subject Matter Expert on instrumentation vendor and suppliers qualification assessments, verify and develop company approved manufactures list.
Track and follow up on bad actors via dashboards and other reporting tools. Support Subject Matter Experts in identifying and analyzing event data and developing solutions to field issues.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a Technical Diploma or Engineering degree with a specialization in instrumentation, process control or electrical systems.
10 year minimum of progressively complex instrumentation or controls engineering experience, and 5 years of hands-on experience with instrumentation data systems (Smart Plant Instrumentation preferred) and Power BI.
Detailed knowledge of codes, regulations, and standards relevant to Instrumentation and pressure control installations.
Proven skills to identify, define and clearly communicate technical problems.
Proven ability to plan, organize and work under tight deadlines.
Ability to motivate stakeholders through flexibility and building relationships.
Effective two-way communication capability including excellent oral and written skills.
Be able to regularly shift between planned and unplanned activities, while remaining effective despite the resulting disruptive effects.
Committed to continuous technical learning and personal development of self and others.
Legally able to travel within Canada and United States.
 

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using MAXIMO, Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), Power BI and smart calibration equipment would be an asset.

Work Schedule:

40 hours a week and 5 days per week.
Office environment with occasional travel to construction and or operating sites.
Short overnight business and/or field trip.
