Our client, one of the largest independent drilling companies, is seeking a Controller to work in their office located in Centro, Rio de Janeiro.

Job Description

  • Reviewing and reporting the monthly management accounts prepared by internal team while ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with company's accounting policie;
  • Responsibilities including reconciliation of inter-company transactions, and settlement of inter-company charges;
  • Review, analyze, and resolve questions regarding general ledger accounts timely and accurately;
  • Perform other general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work;
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, taxes for accuracy and consistency with accounting records;
  • Provide support for local tax issues and related projects with third party consultants;
  • Support the external audit process, with specific focus on collecting key financial and accounting data;
  • Reviewing monthly payroll prepared by third-party payroll provider and ensuring they are accurate, paid on time and correctly accounted for in the general ledger system;
  • Act as the primary liaison between Employee Success and the third-party payroll provider to ensure successful employee onboarding and off-boarding process;
  • Review monthly employee T&E (Travel Expenses) and ensure expenses are approved with supporting documents to ensure compliance with local tax regulations and company policy;
  • Coordinating the accounts payable process by ensuring that invoices have been appropriately approved based on the company's policy, meets local compliance requirements and is paid in a timely manner by third-party accounting firm;
  • Monitor and manage the regional cash flow and banking activities, ensuring that adequate cash levels are maintained and any required communications are made timely;
  • Assist with the management of the office in Brazil by coordinating necessary administrative duties;
  • Support management in completing special projects and other tasks as assigned;
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or automation;
  • Responsible for reconciling and validating the product P&L and Balance Sheet reporting for IFRS to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with CRC registration;
  • Relevant experience;
  • Strong understanding of local GAAP accounting;
  • Ability to meet deadlines as necessary and work additional hours as required;
  • Excellent communications skills and fluent in English;
  • Must be able to interact effectively with all levels;
  • Ability to work independently, as a team player, and deal with third parties consultants;
  • Highly proficient in MS office applications: Word, Excel, Power Point;
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow up skills;
  • Knowledge of MXM system a plus;
  • Knowledge of PRT (Taxes regularization Program) must be a plus.
