Environment Advisor - Erosion and Sediment Control Specialist - Brisbane



Our client is seeking an Environment Advisor with specialism in Sediment and Erosion Control to work on equal time roster in the field.


Ideally you will have experience and technical skills on stabilising and rehabilitating construction sites, specifically sites with dispersive soils.

Additionally, a working knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation, policies, standards and practices (both federal and state legislation) and how they are applied in the workplace.


This position is the field erosion and sediment control specialist that provides technical scopes, field assurance and drives improvements for effective stabilisation and implementation of erosion and sediment controls on site in accordance with legislative and company requirements.

Accountabilities:
Concise technical scopes need to contain sufficient detail to meet rehabilitation and stability objectives and enable implementation by earthworks contractor.
Field presence includes site review, and providing technical expertise through implementation of works, particularly in challenging circumstances, consultative recommendations and building relationships with stakeholders.
The role strategically identifies risk and communicates to relevant management throughout the business. Cost effective and strategic erosion sediment control improvements to be developed and systematically implemented through company systems.

Skills and Requirements:
Tertiary qualification specifically within the environmental discipline (Environmental engineering, rehabilitation, ESC qualifications / skills).
Experience and technical skills on stabilising and rehabilitating construction sites, specifically sites with dispersive soils.
Experience and expertise on erosion and sediment controls (Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control).
A working knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation, policies, standards and practices (both federal and state legislation) and how they are applied in the workplace.
Experience with soil chemistry and analysis.
Experience and understanding of construction and reinstatement processes / earthworks methodologies, equipment and ground cover choices.
Experience in project managing contractors.
Solid experience on rehabilitation / soil chemistry / erosion and sediment / flora in inland Queensland.
Experience developing scope of works for contractor/ tendering process.
Experience document writing and quality assurance.
Experience using the principles and processes of environmental planning and management.
Experience performing induction and training sessions unaided.
Recent experience working in a similar position.
Comfortable acting in a consultative and advisory capacity.
Previous work experience in the oil and gas industry.

Competencies:

Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.
Skilled in development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001 competency an advantage).
Ability to manage and coordinate projects.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to work effectively in/and across multi-functional teams and interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
High level of work ethic and ability to self-manage tasks and work with limited supervision.
Confident, professional (and accurate) verbal and written communication and consultation skills.
Effective organisational and networking skills.
