Our client is seeking a Field Environment Advisor with exposure to projects locally to the East Coast of Australia to work on equal time roster in the field.
You will be required to provide field presence and assurance to contract workforce compliance to regulatory and environmental requirements.
Implement systems and deliver best value on-the-ground environmental compliance outcomes in accordance with team priorities.
Undertake site inspections and meetings to ensure field compliance to permit conditions, company requirements and legislation.
First point of contact to resolve environmental issues with escalation to field environment superintendent/HSE manager.
Develop key relationships with contractors, project managers, project engineers, HSSE advisors, execution advisers and Contractor's environmental officers.
Understand and apply environmental conditions of permits and approvals, policies and procedures and management plans to projects.
Provide recommendations and advice on environmental solutions for field based construction, operations and decommissioning, including aspects such as flora and fauna management, pest and weed control, soil management, drainage, erosion and sediment control, water quality and use of CSG water, chemical and waste management, nuisance complaints and rehabilitation.
Ensure environmental compliance by providing sufficient technical field environmental advice.
Review Contractor Site Environmental Management Plans, attend kick off and pre-construction meetings and toolboxes to promote awareness of environmental conditions in line with Access to Work requirements.
Undertake tool box talks and staff awareness training in company environmental requirements.
Ensure appropriate documentation and records management processes are maintained for effective tracking of environmental performance.
Skills and Requirements:
A working knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation, policies, standards and practices (both federal and state legislation) and how they are applied in the workplace.
User of established environmental systems, techniques, tools and software. Experience actively promoting environmental systems of work on a day-to-day basis.
Understanding of construction, linear (e.g. pipelines/roads) and static sites.
Sufficient field environmental engineering/ecology or equivalent in environmental management, rehabilitation, clearing, erosion and sediment control.
Good sense of navigational direction to be driving in remote areas using basic maps and sometimes a compass
The ability to read maps with ease, use a compass and general orienteering skills.
A confident driver who possess a good understanding of basic car maintenance will be an advantage however instruction will be given.
Physical fitness, as this role will require walking a lot, in open and closed bush land, water sampling etc. The incumbent maybe required to travel domestically or internationally.
