Our client is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to work within the offices based in Melbourne.
You will be required to coordinate the development, strategy, planning and reporting of the Health & Safety requirements to ensure that the execution of the Project meets the Project Objective that nobody gets hurt.
Provide management focus, guidance and leadership on Health and Safety (H&S) for the Project.
Establish and coordinate H&S responsibilities with key contract providers and staff personnel throughout the Project.
Identify potential health & safety issues, plan and manage their resolution and report on issue resolution status.
Coordinate and assist with the implementation of health, medical, safety requirements, and emergency response requirements.
Investigate any incidents, near misses and accidents; ensure all risks and hazards are identified, mitigated and managed.
Develop, implement and monitor/revise the Project Health and Safety Plan to address project permit/approval requirements for the Project ensuring compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.
Develop, steward and coordinate schedule for all H&S activities.
Prepare project internal health & safety stewardship reports as required.
Oversee the development and review of bridging documents and procedures including Safety, Emergency Response Plans.
Interface with project design, execution and operations personnel to ensure health and safety requirements / standards are properly integrated into project plans.
Assist other project team members, as appropriate, on special tasks and studies related to SSHE activities.
Interface with company SSHE department and regulatory authorities (including National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environment Management Authority - NOPSEMA) for H&S issues.
Comply with the applicable requirements of government acts and regulations, company policies, the delegation of authority guide, the controls integrity management systems, the operations integrity management system.
Develop standards, procedures, guidelines and training to support contractors in line with the health & safety requirements.
Identify potential project change requests related to H&S and provide information and data as required by the Project.
Develop and review minimum required competencies and training requirements within project organisation and contractors.
Participate in the pre-qualification screening and bid evaluation process including contractor site assessments, if required.
Monitor contractor health and safety plans, documents and H&S deliverables for acceptability and performance, influence revision based on identified improvements during implementation, revise Project Plans as required.
Oversight of Contractor pre-replacement medical, pre-mobilisation training, competency all other pre-mobilisation deliverables for the different phases of Project.
Work cooperatively and effectively as part of the Project Team and with other groups internal/external to the organisation.
Coordinate with EPC contractors on H&S awareness initiatives and recognition programs.
Minimum 10 years' experience in management of Health and Safety disciplines for major construction projects, preferably in the oil & gas sector, offshore/marine installation and offshore projects.
Familiarity with Australian regulatory authorities (including NOPSEMA and NOPTA) and regulations applicable to the Project.
Experience in managing H&S in a highly disciplined corporate environment.
Safety Leadership experience in major construction projects.
Experience in responding to Project emergencies.
Good supervisory skills and communications with project management teams.
Experience with offshore H&S management. Experience as H&S Advisor for construction diving / pipe lay or subsea installation vessels / drilling rigs would be an advantage.
