Job description

Installation Designer for offshore vessels and that can be manufactured within the selected country, to issue sketches illustrating the installation methods & detailed steps, to produce deck layouts considering offshore vessel deck, HSSE and operational constraints and to develop lifting/rigging arrangements adequate for the applied load, ensuring elements fit together. You ensure application of best practices into design work and are accountable to the Discipline Manager and Lead Engineer/Designer for overall performance.

*The Installation Designer may act as Lead Designer for assigned projects.
*The Installation Designer may act as Discipline Team Leader.

1. In order to develop the design and installation steps successfully within agreed scope and schedule YOU ARE TO:
1.1. Utilize technical knowledge and software tools to clearly depict the design that can be easily and correctly interpreted by others
1.2. Communicate with Engineers and/or Lead Designer and Operations team to ensure design intent and installation steps are understood and to ensure offshore vessel interfaces/ specification are up to date in order to avoid rework
1.3. Plan and deliver assigned tasks accurately within the agreed time frame.
1.4. Organize documents and deliverables so they are easy to understand and locate
1.5. Collaborate with Engineers and other Designers to share information, produce a high quality product and resolve design conflicts
1.6. Assist in solving design problems linked to fabrication & integration of the designed structure by, if necessary, attending Factory Acceptance Tests and/or Site Integration Tests
1.7. Escalate unresolved issues to the Lead Designer/Engineer to minimize delays in deliverables
The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:
? Completion of design/drawing/sketch against budget and schedule
? Functionality/constructability/manufacturability/integration of design
? Clarity and representativeness of installation steps



2. To ensure the quality of deliverables YOU ARE TO:
2.1. Be self-motivated to improve technical competencies for assigned tasks
2.2. Understand how assigned tasks fit within the project schedule and affect other stakeholders in meeting deadlines
2.3. Prioritize activities and effectively manage conflicting deadlines ensuring continued progress to meet the schedule. Proactively provide Lead Designer with status updates
2.4. Demonstrate adaptability in implementing change while ensuring MOC procedures are used to promote positive impact to the project
2.5. Ensure consistency of design and symbology. Perform self- checks to produce error-free deliverables
2.6. Coordinate with Package Engineers to ensure timely review of vendor documents and that comments meet the required quality level
2.7. Comply with project scope, offshore/site environment, work instructions, specifications, codes, industry standards and regulations per project requirements

? Demonstrated understanding of design impact on other disciplines (office & offshore)
? Well understanding of the offshore vessel interfaces
3. *If Acting as Lead Designer: In order to ensure team resources are properly allocated to meet project needs YOU ARE TO:
3.1. Obtain agreement from Installation Engineering Manager on appropriate resource allocation to ensure the project scope is completed per the project schedule
3.2. Define External Services Providers if necessary ensuring the project scope is completed as per engineering procedures.
3.3. Define scope of work of external services providers and follow-up their activities.
3.4. Ensure each team member understands his/her role and responsibilities to deliver the design within the agreed budget, schedule, and quality standards
3.5. Actively participate in all applicable project design reviews and follow through on design review action items
3.6. Proactively interface with stakeholders to align expectations, prioritize design team activities, and resolve design conflicts
3.7. Provide coaching and guidance as needed to team members; partner with Discipline Manager for mentoring staff as needed

? Timely closure of interface issues
