ROLE


Our client, a large plastics and chemical company, is seeking a Lab Technician for their office in Calgary, Alberta. This is a one-year contract position with long-term potential.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform physical tests on polyethylene film and molding resins and processed parts
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of quality and reliability of test results
  • Contribute to the operation-related maintenance and housekeeping of the Physical Test Lab and testing equipment
  • Develop new methods for new applications and new products
    May execute projects in collaboration with Technical Service Specialists
  • Required to have excellent communication skills and be comfortable asking questions when uncertain
  • Required to have very good interpersonal skills and be able to receive and give feedback effectively
  • Applicant must work well in a team setting, but also must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Applicant must be able to learn quickly and function in a fast-paced, priority-driven environment


REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Diploma in Plastics Technology, Chemical Technology diploma, Chemical Engineering Technology diploma or related university degree (Materials, Mechanical)
  • No minimum requirement; co-op experience may be sufficient
  • Background in plastics testing would be beneficial
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Required to have excellent attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot
  • Required to have excellent communication skills and be comfortable asking questions when uncertain
  • Required to have very good interpersonal skills and be able to receive and give feedback effectively
  • Must work well in a team setting, but also must be self-motivated and able to work independently
