Project Engineer - Contract - Melbourne, VIC



Our client an integrated oil and gas business are seeking a Project Engineer to join their Melbourne team to assist with project management and engineering assurance for the construction of retail fuel sites. It's an exciting time to be part of this organisation and in a role that spans various businesses.

As the successful applicant you will have demonstrated your experience and desire to act as a Project Manager and Project Engineer to deliver commercial retail and fuel systems projects within budget, on schedule and with no harm to people or the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Project Manager you will be required to;


Manage and lead a project team through the construction phase for commercial retail and fuel systems projects including retail/fuel upgrades (minor works) and full asset construction (major capital works);
Ensure health, safety and environment (HSE) compliance is met and that a safe working environment exists;
Execution and delivery of project executed to meet Development Approval (local Council) and regulatory compliance;
Administer AS4902 Design and Construct Contracts;
Ensure project costs are well defined and completed within budget;
Establish and meet schedules and targets;
Contractor Management;
Cross functional communication and stakeholder management;

As a Project Engineer you will required to

  • Coordinate internal design reviews;
  • Support the Project Delivery Team with technical engineering expertise during construction;
  • Ensure quality management through Inspection and Testing;
  • Manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.



Background:

  • Project Management experience in the Retail Construction and/or Retail Fuel Systems would be a distinct advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a related technical environment such as Project & Construction Management / Engineering Design / Consulting or Construction Operations Support.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position;
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering;
  • Ability to work with multiple suppliers of engineering and construction services;
  • Experience with setting and delivering HSE objectives for projects;
  • Advanced level of experience with risk analysis, mitigation and contingency planning;
  • Proven stakeholder management and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with projects ranging in value from $100K to $5M.
