Airswift, working with a top US refining client, is current seeking a TAR Materials Planner to work within their facility in Los Angeles.


The Material Planner reports to the TAR/PROJECT Material Planning Team Leader. This position has the primary responsibility for all Material Planning, acquisition, estimates, tracking and coordination of all material requirements for turnarounds and/or projects and to assure adequate support for continuous operations of turnaround and projects.

The Material Planner is uniquely knowledgeable and proficient in all facets of material management systems, methods, scheduling, and procedures as well as refinery processing facilities and processing equipment. The Material Planner is expected to carry out most duties with minimal oversight and to interact with Maintenance Engineering, Purchasing, Warehouse, outside suppliers, contractors, and Accounting on planning material, scheduling material, equipment and tools for (i.e., stocking quantities, delivery requirements, etc.) turnarounds or projects. The Material Planner is responsible to the Maintenance/TAR Superintendent, as well as his own organization's management for (a) consulting with Maintenance engineers, and all others assigned on turnarounds and/or projects on a daily basis; (b) ordering, scheduling, material take-offs, and tracking of all material for all job notes related to assigned turnarounds and/or projects; (c) coordinating with the planning of turnarounds and/or projects; and (d) directing and assigning of duties to all contract personnel and contracts for any material related activity.

Principal Job Functions (in order of importance):

  1. The Material Planner plans, develops, organizes and executes all material, tools, and equipment

Requirements for TAR's and/or Projects.

  1. The Material Planner manages material acquisition functions; determines appropriate source of

Material for TAR and project work orders (job notes) utilizing judgment as to sourcing from stock, surplus or purchase; coordinates with buyers and warehouse analysts on items needed for vendor stock; reviews, establishes, follows up and coordinates equipment and tool requirements with planners and Superintendents for TARs and projects.

  1. The Material Planner develops, administers and issues procedures and policies to assure that material requirements are planned for all maintenance TARs and projects that work order and job note material requirements are processed, consolidated and delivered to maintenance work sites on time, complete and in good condition.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  1. One to three years field experience
  2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including SAP
  3. Proficiency in the use of SAP search routines and electronic requisition
  4. Knowledge of purchasing procedures
  5. Knowledge of warehouse operations
  6. Maintenance or construction work experience (Preferred)
  7. Knowledge of basic piping and I&E specifications (Preferred)
