Our client is seeking Lead Electrical Engineer to work within their facilities located in Paramount, CA, for a 1 year assignment.
The Lead Electrical Engineer must have the ability to self-execute all electrical engineering and act as Owner's engineer within a given project as well as lead a team of electrical engineers and designers in global project execution.
Job Responsibilities:
- Owner's engineer role overseeing external A&E firm performing design and engineering for an industrial renewable energy facility in Paramount CA
- Manage interfaces and provide oversight of client’s global design team for detailed design of an industrial renewable energy facility in Paramount, CA
- Development and oversight of electrical single-line diagrams and overall plant electrical distribution systems
- Coordination with utility and/or customer to develop required power for operating plants
- Oversee specifications and purchase of key electrical equipment such as medium and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, transformers, VFD's, UPS systems, DC systems, etc
- Write and/or review purchase specifications, evaluating quotations, performing/reviewing technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, and factory acceptance testing
- Oversee and review large induction and synchronous motors and starting systems specifications which may include reduced voltage autotransformers, reactor start, electronic soft-start/VFD/LCI, etc
- Oversee and review gas turbine and steam turbine generator designs for co-generation within process plants
- Perform and review electrical system studies including short circuit, load flow, transient motor start, protection relay coordination, and arc flash, and creating appropriate protective device settings
- Provide start-up and commissioning support for electrical distribution equipment and motors
- Possibility to transition to plant electrical engineer for an industrial renewable energy facility after startup and commissioning
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the design of industrial electrical power systems
- Professional Engineer license for CA is required
- Computer literate and experienced in the use of SKM Power Tools, MS Word, and MS Excel
- Knowledge and application of switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, motors, and generators used in industrial power systems as well as the ability to prepare and interpret specifications related to such equipment
- Knowledge and experience in performing detailed power system engineering studies
- Experience in process instrumentation and controls, air conditioning, telecommunications, PLC's, and electronic circuits is not applicable to this position
