Worley delivers ongoing site capital services to Alcoa including smaller and larger brownfield upgrade projects. Our project offices are based on site at Pinjarra, Wagerup, and Huntly Mine, supported by Perth head office and our services include: Engineering design and drafting, Project Management, Project Controls, Construction and commissioning leadership and operational support. Joining the Worley team will provide the opportunity to be involved in newly developed technology, and decarbonization projects that will be rolled out across other industries. Due to ongoing demand, we are seeking a Lead Mechanical/Piping Engineer to join our Alcoa portfolio in Pinjarra.

What you’ll do
We are looking for a Lead Mechanical/Piping Engineer to join our team.
You will play a key role providing specific engineering services to Worley and its clients for the hydrocarbons, energy and chemicals industries to enable construction of production plants and facilities
The role responsibilities include:
- Initiate, manage and supervise engineering assignments on projects to meet project requirements on time and within budget.
- Perform discipline specific engineering services such as:
o prepare and review the production of detailed design deliverables including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, datasheets, calculations and reports;
o conduct or contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;
o prepare / contribute to project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules;
o participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures;
o estimate engineering hours for projects and track hours to approved budget;
o provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Provide specialist technical support, supervision and advice to the discipline and project teams; participate in peer reviews; and consult with relevant resources as required.
- Team supervision including assigning tasks, training, and taking the lead on projects
- Technically evaluate vendor equipment supply proposals.
- Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions and ask for assistance if required.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in the discipline.
What you’ll have
- An Australian recognised Bachelor qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Eligible for membership with Engineers Australia.
- Extensive technical and leadership experience in the Mechanical and Piping disciplines, including leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, including:
o Equipment layout
o Design of pump and piping systems
o Fluid system analysis and design particularly of slurry systems
o Pipe stress analysis
o Design of pressure equipment
o Design of materials handling equipment
o Read and interpret drawings, including general mechanical, piping and P&ID drawings.
- Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline specific including: AFT Fathom / Fluid Flow 3, Non compressible and compressible fluid system analysis. Navisworks, Bluebeam / Adobe Suite etc
