Airswift is seeking a Lease Operator I to work in Carlsbad, NM. 8/6 schedule and long-term assignment.
Main Functions:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of wells, processing units, and related facilities. Focuses on oil, gas, and water separation facilities operations, along with utilities. The role requires secondary expertise in all operations and involves facility start-up, utilizing operating tools, procedures, work-permitting, and training. Experience in new facilities startup and operations is highly desirable.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensure personal and co-worker safety by following and enforcing all safety rules.
- Serve as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities. Understands process flow, basic chemistry, major line-ups, and unit safety equipment, including isolation points.
- Review computer data and schematics to optimize processes.
- Physically inspect and monitor equipment/work areas using senses to ensure correct operation.
- Issue Safe Work Permits, requiring proficiency in operating conditions and knowledge of chemical, personnel, and process safety risks.
- Perform gas testing to ensure the operating area is safe for maintenance activities.
- Conduct process monitoring, including gauging tanks, reading meters, recording data, taking samples, checking pressure, injection rates, and identifying issues like leaks or freezing.
- Perform visual maintenance by checking parameters like temperature, pressure, flow rate, and vibration to ensure equipment operates within limits.
- Adjust local process parameters to maintain product specifications.
- Maintain company vehicle and coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling.
- Keep accurate records, noting reasons for production changes.
- Check control valve positions and perform basic equipment maintenance (lubrication, tightening valve packing, changing filters).
- Communicate with Production Foreman to stay informed about process conditions and needed changes.
- Execute winterization and summarization of equipment for maximum efficiency.
- Use electronic and handheld monitors to check field equipment.
- Inspect safety equipment such as safety valves, fire extinguishers, hoses, and breathing apparatus.
- Continuously improve work processes and minimize environmental impacts (flaring emissions, oil spills).
- Perform work following all environmental policies and procedures.
- Support team efforts to achieve business objectives and demonstrate reliable attendance.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Previous experience in a closely related position.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and be available for callouts as needed.
- Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to maintain, operate, and repair surface equipment associated with oil and gas production.
- Proficiency in computers and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift more than 50 lbs and climb ladders/stairways.
- Ability to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other safety detectors and equipment.
