Public Lighting Technical Officer – Brisbane, QLD

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for managing our client’s lights in parks and bikeways. This includes regular inspections, management of maintenance program, investigate requests from public, ensure lighting compliance to AS/NZS 1158, conduct lighting audits, resolving lighting faults and implement appropriate lighting solutions. Note repairs, installations and identifying faults is not the responsibility of this role.
Please note, this role will require working one night per week for up to four hours from sunset.
Key Accountabilities
- Complete all work to Company client procedures, policy and standards and ensuring review of these to maintain effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide technical advice and lighting audits for compliance with P Category lighting installation as per AS/NZS 1158.
- Knowledge of AS/NZS 1158 Lighting for roads and public spaces pedestrian area (Category P) lighting - Performance and design requirements and AS/NZS 4282 – Control of the obtrusive effects of outdoor lighting.
- Investigate and resolve requests for public lighting improvement by carrying out site inspections, participating in community consultation, determining required action and advising customers of intended action.
- Accurately input data and maintain City Lighting Asset registers and carrying out audits of database records and where necessary, take appropriate actions to resolve inaccuracy in the database.
- Attend and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders and report on progress and issues as required.
- Work in partnership with your team leader to agreed performance standards and mutual expectations.
- Give and receive regular feedback to enable performance to be improved and take personal responsibility for optimising your potential within the organisation.
Essential
- Extensive skills and knowledge of the principles and practices of public lighting as contained in the AS/NZS 1158 (P Category)
- Extensive skills and knowledge of the principles of obtrusive light as contained in AS/NZS 4282.
- Proven ability to inspect and assess lighting requests and implement appropriate compliant public lighting solutions.
- Experience in carrying out lighting audits for compliance with Australian Standards.
- Knowledge of and experience with lighting software.
- Strongly developed verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with, and influence groups and individuals at all levels in the organisation including external customers and stakeholders.
- Ability to coordinate, plan and efficiently implement public lighting maintenance work programs with limited supervision in a team environment.
- Ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards to contribute to a culture of performance excellence.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to manage competing priorities to meet tight deadlines and deliver quality service standards.
Desirable
- Knowledge or experience with lighting control systems such as Pharos or Dynalite.
- Possession of a recognised qualification within the lighting field.
- Professional membership from the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia & New Zealand (minimum Member grade) or equivalent.
- A Queensland Open drivers’ licence.
Resident Engineer (Instrumentation, Control and Automation)- Johor, Malaysia
Airswift is seeking a Resident Engineer (ICA) to work in Johor, Malaysia for a Water Infrastructure Project which they have won to be the official Project Delivery Partner/ Main Consultant.

Job Responsibilities
- Interpret process data to determine compliance with permit specific requirements
- Be accountable for the quality of site construction and installation work on Instrumentation and Control system.
- Lead the site supervision team on the SCADA/PLC and instrumentation installation and commissioning works and other ICA works in Waterworks project.
- Lead advisory role to Client in ICA work throughout project execution and during Testing & Commissioning
- Assist CRE on all Process instrumentation, control and automation site issues and supporting critical defects and punch lists rectification works
- Reviewing and approving of technical submissions by Contractors.
- Verifying work done and payment on ICA works
- Involvement in contract-related matters on the project. Attendance in meetings, discussions with clients, contractors and to lead in technical and progress discussions
- Witnessing Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Tests etc.
- Monitoring progress of ICA works done by contractors and ensuring adherence to project schedule
- Ensuring site team’s safety compliance
- Monitor and enforce strict site permit-to-work system for ICA works
Job Qualifications
- A good Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering recognized by Board of Engineers, Malaysia
- Minimum Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Degree must be recognized by Board of Engineers, Malaysia and obtained a valid CIDB Green card
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience in I&C works, preferably in Water / Waste Water industry or industrial plant
- Good supervisory skills
