DESCRIPTION
Safely operates and performs maintenance on geotechnical structures, pumping systems, site roads, and storm water management structures. Performs planned and scheduled work activities as a priority to achieve optimal outcomes. Supports the execution of maintenance work on equipment in peak periods.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Compliance with all local legislation and regulations including the Storm Water Permit.
- Safe and effective operation of heavy equipment including backhoe, loader, dozer, motor grader, etc.
- Safe execution of physical labor required to maintain geotechnical structures, pumping systems, site roads, landscaping and storm water management structures.
- Proactively identifies work and submits work requests as an input to the planning and scheduling process.
- Risk assesses work activities and ensure actions are taken to enable safe work execution.
- Executes reactive, planned and scheduled work to prevent unplanned failures.
- Ensures work history and work activities are recorded in the business system in a timely manner as per process.
- Builds cross-functional relationships with Maintenance to support delivery of maintenance on geotechnical structures, site roads, tailings, drainage and storm water inspections.
- Reports events and hazards in a timely and accurate manner.
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with local community, contractors and government/regulator stakeholders.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a mine or on closure projects in a closely related field.
- Operating and site closure field experience including safety, health and environment.
- Solid interpersonal skills to interact and maintain effective relationships with peers, contractors, regulators, and community stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of mine storm water inspections, record keeping and maintenance requirements.
- Heavy mining equipment operation required or ability to quickly develop these skills.
- Basic computer and software application skills
- The ability to stop work when unsafe situation occurs, or the requirements are not clear and escalate to Supervisor.
ADDITIONALLY
- Must be able to perform physical labor daily with routine manual lifting required.
- Able to provide on-call coverage locally as scheduled.
- Work is in a mining environment with significant contractor activities that includes heavy equipment, electrical and mechanical applications.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
