Permit to Work Coordinator – Corpus Christi, TX

Our client is seeking an Permit to Work Coordinator to work within their facilities located in Corpus Christi, TX for an one year assignment that can be extended.
The Permit to Work Coordinator reports directly to the Permit to Work Supervisor and will work with Production Shift Supervisors to ensure safe and efficient execution of maintenance work on the facility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FERC, OSHA, USCG, and other governing organizations as applicable.
- Ensure adherence to Control Safe Work procedures and practices.
- Be the site focal point for day-to-day management of the Permit to Work process.
- Facilitate / participate in daily Permit to Work planning and maintenance meetings, including SIMOPS management.
- Initiate process for having permits developed and authorized for work; Support shift needs for executing permits and provide guidance on proper use including responsibilities and roles and requirements for field issuing and permit closure.
- Provides data that can be used for tracking and trending progress inclusive of auditing requirements.
- Provides permit packages in a timely manner, including involvement in leading / developing job task risk assessments.
- Ensure that adequate handovers take place at shift change, crew change or at periodic change out of PTW Roles or Authorities and that such handovers reference ongoing permitted activity and required preparation activities.
- Coordination of planned unit startups and shutdowns in a safe and timely manner.
- Maximize plant availability by assisting with the coordination of Production Personnel.
- Develop permit strategies for Unit/Plant shutdowns.
- Maintains shift report and advises the incoming shift of any abnormal situations or maintenance activities that requires action to be taken.
- Be sufficiently conversant with CMMS to be able to use the systems to execute work and ensure history data is entered and maintained.
- Conduct HSE and permit to work compliance audits.
- Ensure that Operational activities adhere to all safety and environmental regulations in accordance with safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Become shift subject matter expert on the company’s electronic permitting system; able to exhibit competence in utilizing software system
- Achieves the highest levels of environmental and safety compliance.
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
- Performs all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates.
- Provides routine maintenance and security tasks when operations schedules permit.
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required. Formal education in related technical or engineering discipline.
- Minimum seven to eight (7-8) years Operational experience with four to five (4-5) years managing Control of Work via a PTW process in a related industry (Petro-Chemical/Refinery/Cryogenic) preferably using an electronic PTW system.
- Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
- Able to demonstrate high level of competence in utilizing computer-based programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, and has high aptitude for learning new software applications and systems.
- Incumbent shall demonstrate personal characteristics of integrity, accountability and dependability.
- General knowledge of process controls including flow, pressure level and temperature logic systems and process diagrams (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s).
