Purpose:
You will support Substation and Transmission projects with focus on electrical protection and control activities for Company and its Customers as an integral part of the Power Networks team.
Responsibilities:
Independently perform tasks that typically include:
- Technical execution of complex protection and control project assignments applied to both brownfield and greenfield projects for various clients
- Preparation of engineering drawings and documents, calculations, and other miscellaneous deliverables as required
- Supervise/coordinate other engineers of equal and lesser experience to successfully deliver a project
- Complete tasks in accordance with project procedures, applicable codes and/or standards, on schedule and within budget
- Discuss technical problems and communicate effectively with other project personnel and outside Customers
- Perform independent audits and reviews of technical work
- Perform proposal preparation, proposal estimates, and provide input to scope documents and client presentations
- Perform the function of a team leader that is capable of solving complex issues and act as a lead engineer responsible for the quality of the deliverables
- Work in a team-oriented environment with ability to work independently or as part of a group when and as required
- Interface with other departmental staff, project management, and with outside Customers
- Ability to travel to job sites to perform site walkdown
- Responsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable drawing standards and responsible for the proper document management procedures are followed
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Extensive experience in protection and control engineering for switchyards and substations including supervisory experience (up to and including 500kV voltage class stations)
- Experience working in project leadership role
- Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content
- Has a competent understanding of regulations, electrical codes, manufacturing standards and industry standard practices
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite
- Self-motivated, organized, and be able to work independently.
- Ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and written communication skills that permit working efficiently alongside senior substation engineers and designers in a team setting.
Required:
- 4 or 5 year Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States
