Key responsibilities:
• Process engineering focal point for turnaround MOC work including decontamination systems, temporary nitrogen facilities, temporary waste management systems etc.
• Interface with Production, Turnaround, and Technical departments to frame and develop the scope required to execute Shutdown, decontamination, maintenance and startup safely, predictably and reliably.
• Provide process engineering input on how the scope of change impacts the operation of the facility to ensure the design achieves the expected outcome.
• Develop the relevant deliverables for the change management process. E.g. Process engineering scope of work, P&ID mark-ups, process engineering studies (H&MB, hydraulics, RVs, pump requirements etc.)
• Support the development of TA inspection packages
• Detailed process engineering scope assurance and turnaround execution strategy development
• Data collection and analysis for startup and shutdown integration optimization activities
• Field walk-downs
• Operation procedure reviews
Skills and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with 10+ years of experience.
• At least 3+ years’ experience in an operations support role (contact engineer, operations engineer, facilities engineer etc.) in a refining, upgrading, chemicals or gas processing facility environment.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta with APEGA.
• Experience in managing small projects/MOCs of a multidisciplinary nature.
• A strong process engineering technical background with process knowledge of upgrading operations is desirable.
• Experience with Turnaround readiness and Plant Shutdown activities.
• Excellent collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills are critical to the role due to the multitude of stakeholders.
• Safeguarding/HAZOP/Process Safety Review/Hazard and Effects Management Process exposure is an asset
• Process modeling experience – Pro II and HYSYS/Unisim
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects is important
• An eye for continuous improvement would be considered an asset.
