Our client, a major petrochemical plant, is seeking 3 Project Engineers to work on an 18-24-month contract in Sherwood Park, AB. This role specifically is to help develop the Turnaround and Outage scopes of work for upcoming 2024 and 2025 outages. 

Job Responsibilities 
  • Provide project development and implementation of Capital Projects and Capital MOCs within the range of $50K to $5 – 8M.
  • Provide project engineering for AFE and Project Development (PDI) process
  • Supervise the design, cost estimates, reporting, and work with field execution leads consulting on the construction efforts of projects. 
  • Lead the front-end development of projects including definition and planning, estimating, requests for endorsement and approval.
  • Preparation of Project Execution Strategies and Plan
  • Prepare individual project PDI phase reviews for Projects Supervisor and Tech Services Manager review. 
  • Review and facilitate approval for all project scope changes
  • Work closely with Engineering companies overseeing Engineering and Design stages to ensure that projects are engineered in accordance with the company's policies and guiding principles, and applicable operating industry standards, codes, rules and regulations; within schedule and budget.
  • Monitor and report on progress of projects throughout the PDI and Project execution process
  • Interface with Project Controls for site project reporting
  • Drive the HAZOP and design review processes when applicable
  • Ensuring effective communication and coordination between all disciplines, operations, field execution, and project participants including all stakeholders
  • Reviewing engineering deliverables from EP companies, and ensuring all project deliverables are completed
  • Supporting the commissioning and hand-over of projects from Project Development to Field Operations
  • Creating and updating project schedules and forecasts throughout the project life cycle
  • Contribute to work plan with contractors, operations, maintenance and all relevant parties for execution with minimum interruption to operating plant.
  • Interfacing with the Corporate office Project Development Team for larger project support.
  • During facility commissioning and start-up, providing rapid response to site-initiated quick turnover MOCs, and small projects.
Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Applicants must have graduated from an accredited university with an engineering degree
  • 8-10 years of experience in a project engineering role supporting the design of facilities
  • Experience in brownfield project execution
  • Local and regional experience in delivering end-to-end (development to implementation and start up) for major oil and/or petrochemical project
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and regulations
