Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Chemical clients to seek a Project Engineer to work within their facilities located in Ingleside, TX for an initial 12-month contract, likely to be extended.
Job Description
- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and transport our products, as our highest priority.
- Develop and execute small capital projects to deliver timely, economical, and safe completion. Projects are primarily maintenance replacements. In-house and external design/engineering support is available as needed.
- As the Project Engineer:
- Provide attention to detail, and dedication to work in order to ensure reliability of the work site as well as high quality product.
- Develops and manages project scopes and schedules.
- Create cost estimates and controls project cost.
- Manages the design, procurement, and installation of Houston Operations capital projects within assigned scope
- Maintains close relationship with Operations, Process Engineering, Accounting, Environmental, Purchasing, Maintenance, and Construction departments personnel for efficient and economic project implementation.
- Minimizes capital cost through design and selection of equipment and materials.
- Assures design compliance with requirements of OSHA, EPA, and other governmental bodies.
- Prepares or approves specifications, standards, engineering drawings, purchase requisitions, and purchase recommendations on assigned projects.
- Plans and develops schedules on assigned projects and assists in planning and scheduling the overall project workload of the department.
- Provides cost estimates and cost control on assigned projects.
- Prepares monthly status reports for assigned projects.
- Coordinates information flow among specialist engineers, designers/drafters, and Houston Operations staff and line personnel toward the efficient and complete implementation of assigned projects.
- Acts as the liaison with operations;
- Determines applicable and regulatory policies and procedures and assures project compliance;
- Defines and coordinates the work of engineering disciplines, both in-house and contract;
- Reviews and approves drawings including flow sheets, isos, layouts, etc. and vendor submittals;
- Assist with the preparation of procedures, specifications, and bid packages;
- Specifies, requisitions, and expedites materials and equipment;
- Coordinates construction and turn-over to operations; and
- Performs or oversees other activities as needed for a successful project.
- Communicating the design and technical issues to technical and non-technical functions through reports, memos, design documents, and presentations in a manner that is concise, factual and effective. Trains, directs, and reviews the work of lower level technical staff.
- Recommending action to improve the quality of the engineering function and working on new engineering methods.
Qualifications
- Graduate engineer with 2-5 years or more of project engineering experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within the Industry.
- Field experience
- Must be able to develop strong relationships with project sponsors, government agencies, outside engineering, construction, and equipment supply firms.
- Must be capable of handling multiple assignments with project ranging in size from $50K to $6MM.
