PROJECT HSE ENGINEER (CONSULTANT)
Location: Stockholm, SE (M-F, 40 hours per week) - with occasional business trips to Boden
Start Date: ASAP
Contract duration: initial 12 months, with possible extension
Project: Boden - 6 billion EUR green steel project site
We are on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. Our green steel production in Boden will be powered by one of the world’s largest green hydrogen plants, running on renewable electricity. Instead of emitting large amounts of CO?, as in traditional steelmaking processes, our primary emission will be water. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. The facility will impact, and shape, the surroundings as well as the perception of Boden, with the aim that it will be seen as a symbol for the much-needed green transition of heavy industry.
The Project HSE Engineer is responsible for reviewing safety of the design with focus on the machinery, process and fire safety. This role ensures that our production is designed safely considering legislation requirements, best industry practices and operational aspects.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing design documentation
- Coordinating safety topics with the EPCMs
- Ensuring uniform safety design throughout the site
- Carrying out risk analyses
- Building and developing the project’s safety tool
- The project HSE engineer will work closely with project teams and operation, EPCMs, OEMs and similar. They will report to the lead technical safety engineer.
Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Relevant Engineering: The candidate shall have a master's or bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as chemical, mechanical, and fire engineering.
- 5 Years Experience in Industrial Projects within the process industry (steel, mining, pulp & paper, oil & gas etc.)
- Experience in industrial safety design is needed as that is the focus of work.
- A good understanding of the typically used methods for carrying out safety studies.
- A good understanding of the industrial permitting process and local legislation relevant to safety.
- Value adding skills; functional safety and ATEX know how.
- In the role you will be interacting with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, including project managers, engineers, contractors and regulatory authorities. Effective communication will help you collaborate with stakeholders and address any concerns or challenges that arise.
