Airswift is supporting our construction and engineering client based in Germany, to support one of their LNG projects, based in Stade, Lower Saxony.
The role of a QA/QC CSA Supervisor is essential for upholding construction quality standards. This position, part of the owner's engineering team, involves overseeing the work of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractors to ensure adherence to project quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities and background:
- Implementation of Quality Standards: Ensure all CSA works comply with the project's quality management system, relevant codes, standards, and specifications.
- Quality Plans and Procedures: Develop, review, and approve quality plans and inspectiontest plans (ITPs) specific to CSA works.
- Inspection and Testing: Oversee and witness inspections and tests, ensuring all CSA works meet specified quality requirements.
- Site Supervision: Monitor the daily activities of the EPC contractor to ensure adherence to the project schedule and specifications.
- Coordination with EPC Contractors: Liaise with EPC contractors' QA/QC teams to ensure smooth execution of works and compliance with the project’s quality standards.
- Interface Management: Manage interfaces between different disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to avoid conflicts and ensure coherence in design and construction.
- Documentation Review: Review and approve QA/QC documentation, including quality manuals, procedures, test reports, and as-built drawings.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify, document, and manage non-conformances NCRs), ensuring corrective and preventive actions are taken.
- Progress and Quality Reporting: Prepare and submit regular quality reports to the project management team, highlighting progress, issues, and corrective actions.
- Compliance with Safety Standards: Ensure all CSA works are conducted in compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all construction activities adhere to local and international regulations, including building codes and environmental regulations.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical support and guidance on quality-related issues in civil, structural, and architectural works.
- Problem Resolution: Collaborate with the design team and EPC contractors to resolve technical issues and challenges on-site.
- Conduct Audits: Conduct regular quality audits of the EPC contractor’s work processes and site activities.
- Surveillance Activities: Perform ongoing surveillance of construction activities to ensure compliance with project quality requirements.
- Training: Assist in the training and development of project staff and contractor personnel on QA/QC procedures and best practices.
- Knowledge Transfer: Share knowledge and lessons learned from the project to enhance overall team capabilities.
- Client Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for quality-related matters with the client and stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders as required.
- Quality Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities for quality improvement and recommend changes to processes and procedures.
Critical Skills & Personal Attributes:
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in architectural design and construction, preferably in industrial projects such as LNG facilities.
- Strong understanding of German building codes, regulations, and standards, as well as international standards (e.g., ISO, EN).
- Proficiency in both German and English for effective communication.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Project Management, LEED, etc.) are advantageous.
- Significant experience and expertise in LNG projects, particularly in regasification plants, is required.
- Extensive knowledge of CSA regulations in Germany is essential.
