GENERAL LIABILITY
The quality control inspector is responsible for monitoring the quality of work carried out in the discipline he or she represents. He performs various inspections and verifications for all construction work, including materials.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The main missions of the site quality control inspector include (non-exhaustive list):
- Receives instructions, documents, specifications and technical details related to the work. Reviews, analyzes and defines inspection requirements. Creates, uses and implements test forms and procedures as required.
- Monitors the inspection and testing plan put in place for the work and verifies that the contractor/subcontractor is carrying out the inspections and tests scheduled at the various stages, reports the results, prepares the various reports.
- Inspects the work and designated contractors/subcontractors in accordance with the approved inspection and testing plan.
- Inspects incoming materials/equipment and verifies material inspection reports.
- Liaises with construction personnel to verify that all necessary testing has been completed.
- Liaises with the external inspection agency when applicable
- Conducts regular inspections/audits of equipment used by the contractor (calibration and certifications)
- Reports to field staff poor quality work and deficiencies identified during inspections and provides assistance/advice on the work required to address them.
- Reports deviations from contract document requirements to the QC manager.
- Investigates or anticipates work problems and takes or recommends appropriate action to address deficiencies
- Cultivates good relationships with contractors/subcontractors.
- Ensures that all required documentation (test and inspection reports, material inspection reports, etc.) has been completed correctly and in a timely manner.
