Our O&G client is seeking a Senior Completions and Intervention Engineer to work within their facilities in Adelaide, South Australia on a 12-months casual contract role.

SUMMARY ABOUT THE ROLE
Prepare and manage well completions and intervention designs to assure project and stakeholder objectives, technical integrity standards, business and regulatory requirements and health, safety and environmental performance targets are achieved. Responsible for the provision of operational leadership and engineering support to ensure completion and intervention operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with drilling, completions and operations asset and project teams to enable well completion and intervention design to be scoped and designed to meet technical objectives.
  • Effectively design and develop well programs
  • Ensure that all risks are identified and managed to assure operational integrity and eliminate unplanned events.
  • Effective design and prepare completion and intervention programmes.
  • Assist, as required, in the preparation of HSE safety cases and other HSE documentation for well operations.
  • Provide technical input to procurement and contracting. Review and recommend services and materials for program implementation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest completion and well intervention procedures and equipment and make recommendations to the Principal Engineer or Team Leader to improve operational practices and performance.
  • Coordinate equipment and personnel logistics to ensure timely commencement of operations and facilitate scheduling and procurement requirements for well operations.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of well operation standards, policies and procedures to ensure technical excellence is maintained across all operations.
  • Travel to well sites, as required, to work with operations personnel.
  • Effectively supervise field based supervisors to maintain a safe and effective work environment.
  • Assist with the management of contracts, tenders, and contractor’s scope of work, suppliers and specialist contractors to maintain a cost effective and fit for purpose operation.
  • Monitor, and on a daily basis, report to management on the progress of well operations and current costs. Compare actual costs with cost proposals and recommend improvements which may lead to optimisation of expenditure. 
  • Assist in the development of risk assessments, hazard analysis and well reports.
  • Ensure the Company operating and HSE standards for well intervention, operations and legislative compliance requirements are achieved.
  • Perform post well reviews; capture and incorporate learning's into future programs, to ensure continued improvement in completion efficiencies and costs.
  • Investigate and select concepts for the improvement of the well intervention process.

 
REQUIREMENTS 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
  • Well Control Certification (level 4 subsea stack or Level 4 Well Intervention Pressure Control).
  • Preferably 10 years industry experience (5 years minimum in completion and interventions) in well construction and engineering, depending on aptitude and career experience.
  • Sound understanding and application of mechanical principles, pressure, temperature, wellbore fluids and metallurgy related to well construction and engineering.
  • Knowledge of well integrity management and implementation.
  • Sound risk assessment and risk management skills, minimising potential safety and environmental risk.
  • Sound understanding of well control and rig operations.
  • Sound understanding of pressure control and rig-less operations.
  • Ability to define detailed completion equipment selection criteria and properties to meet operation objectives.
  • Experience in a variety of completion and intervention methods and in completion and intervention operations.
  • Experience with range of perforating methods, completion fluid types and formation damage mitigation.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of zonal isolation methods including cementing, open hole packers and interval control valves.
  • Application of a range of intervention techniques such as slickline, wireline and coiled tubing..
  • Sound understanding of material selection including metallurgy and elastomers.
  • Working knowledge of subsea, offshore platform and land operations.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and planning skills.
