The role
We are seeking a Senior Cost Controller to join our client’s team
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up the cost control system, project procedures, and initial budget structure.
- Assess the financial impact of changes to the project and potential revenue claims.
- Allocate the initial budget across various project activities like procurement, construction, and installation.
- Analyze risks and opportunities to evaluate cost sensitivity.
- Track actual spending against the budget and report any variances or potential impacts to the project management team.
- Provide cost forecasts for the remainder of the project.
- Prepare and update the project cash flow for the finance team.
- Assist the finance department in preparing and reviewing sales invoices.
- Handle specific project accounting tasks, including quarterly reconciliations and reporting.
- Collaborate with the financial controller on hedging and project cost management.
- Support external audits and ensure compliance with relevant procedures and quality standards.
Required skills/experience/knowledge:
Qualifications:
- Degree in Commerce, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Background in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of cost control, management, and project reporting principles.
- Proficiency in Excel at an intermediate level.
- At least 5 years of experience in cost control, ideally in a senior role.
- Prior experience in project-based cost control is highly desirable.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent cost analysis abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
