Our client is seeking a Senior Geophysicist to work within their facilities located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Senior Geophysicist interprets and analyses various types of geophysical data, for contribution to prospect identification and maturation as well as well as planning. Identifies new hydrocarbon potential prospects. The jobholder evaluates the identified prospects on both geological and geophysical approaches, as well as prospect ranking for decision-making on drilling campaign. The jobholder also prepares drilling plan and proposal and follows up until the work process of post-drill evaluation is completed. Evaluate and plan for Monitoring, Measurement and Verification (MMV) Plan for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). In addition, the job holder provides supervising, coaching and mentoring to Geophysicists to ensure knowledge/technology transfer as well as effective knowledge and experience sharing.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Define all the remaining potential prospects from both exploration/ development campaign of asset.
  • Carry out seismic interpretation and mapping for both structural and stratigraphic, velocity modelling for depth conversion, and quantitative/qualitative seismic attribute analyses.
  • Carry out the prospect evaluation and ranking by both geological and geophysical evaluation.
  • Plan and propose wells on the best locations.
  • Prepare well proposal as well as post-drill evaluation.
  • Identify and quantify geophysical/subsurface uncertainties that influence the technical and commercial robustness of the projects.
  • Evaluate best technologies for CCS.
  • Initiate and follow up on geophysical related studies carried out internally or by external contractors.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor junior staff.
  • Support, recommend and participate in planning internal and external work programs and participate in departmental annual budget planning.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 10 years’ experience in Geophysics with knowledge of Geology, Subsurface.
  • Knowledge of Geophysics and related subjects
  • Experience of working in multidiscipline field development team
  • Able to manage integration of subsurface, wells, surface, and operation disciplines
  • Experience in planning and project management
  • Able to communicate, internally and externally, with diverse range of stakeholders from various disciplines
