Airswift is working with one of our major oil & gas clients to find a Laboratory Technician to join their team in a 1-year assignment in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate and on-time routine and non-routine analysis including final product certification.
- Daily and effective communication with operational, environmental, engineering departments and off-spec notification as needed.
- Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment as per identified standard requirements (i.e. internal QA/QC, preventative maintenance, ISO 9001 and 17025).
- Support continuous improvement to assure reliable operations of the laboratory.
- Work closely with other laboratory team and plant operations to assist in product quality investigations.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
Qualifications:
- Chemical Technology Diploma, BSc in Chemistry or Environmental Science or equivalent preferred
- This a rotation schedule 4 day on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 5 days off etc. You will work 2-day shift and 2-night shift of 12 hours.
- The Diesel Fitter (DF) will be a member of the maintenance team with primary focus/accountability for all maintenance activities for company plant and equipment.
- The Diesel Fitter (DF) will be accountable for maintenance of the KGL fleet, in addition to both planned and unplanned maintenance activities for all plant and equipment.
- The Diesel Fitter (DF) will have the necessary skills, experience, and training to deliver the expected results, performance, and functions of the role.
- Accountability for the safe operational delivery of all maintenance services of the company, with an obligation to ensure the SMO is continuously informed of opportunities, progress and results.
- To ensure that all maintenance reporting activities are adhered to and completed as per existing, and to be created, and submitted to the SMO for review and acceptance.
- Ensuring all maintenance schedules are adhered to.
- to ensure all allocated work is achieved on time, within budget and in accordance with the client specifications.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience required:
- A minimum 5 years’ experience in the position with accountability for maintenance task assignment, including adherence to planned and unplanned maintenance.
- A minimum 5 years’ experience working in a contracting environment within mining and metals, civil, construction or heavy industrial industries.
- Strong working knowledge of HR and WHS requirements, expectations and practices within a mining and metals, civil, construction or heavy industrial context.
- Proven experience leading operational personnel.
- Strong working knowledge of knowledge and experience with CAT and Terex plant and equipment.
- Ideally a valid PNG drivers’ license.

The project will consider people from an Underground construction background who already hold and Cert IV in Safety.
- Support and advise Site contractors and supervisors with the implementation of the Project Health, Safety and Environment Management Plan (HSEMP).
- Support and advise Site Contractors and supervisors with Statutory compliance and Health Safety deliverables.
- Undertake HSE duties as directed by Senior HSE Advisor consistent with the requirements of the HSE Management System.
- Participate and input into the update of the Project HSEMP and other Health and Safety Procedures and Plans.
- Input into the Site Health, Safety and Environment Risk Register and Hazard Management Program.
- Participate in Construction Risk Assessment Workshops and associated actions for all site activities.
- Review of Journey Management Plans.
- Liaison with the Contractors’ HSE teams to focus on achieving best practice.
- Influence, coach and mentor contractors’ own HSE personnel.
- Participate in HSE meetings with contractor personnel.
- Attend contractor pre-start shift meetings.
- Prepare and deliver HSE site inductions and training as required.
- Monitor adherence to HSE strategies to ensure the HSE objectives are met.
- Undertake planned inspection and auditing of contractors to their HSEMP requirements.
