The role 
We are seeking a Senior Planner to join our client’s team

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, based on the proposal scope of work. This includes defining activities, durations, logical links, resources, constraints, and external links, ensuring the schedule aligns with the project estimate.
  • Create a comprehensive Project Control Schedule (PCS) from the Project Scope of Work, incorporating Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), timelines, constraints, and resource allocations. Regularly update the PCS for monthly reports and to reflect project status.
  • Re-baseline the project schedule when necessary to accommodate changes in scope or execution strategy.
  • Maintain supporting schedules for the Comprehensive Control Schedule (CCS) and ensure they are up-to-date and accurate, coordinating with the cost controller to adjust resource allocations and forecast updates as needed.
  • Adjust the project schedule to reflect changes in work scope or methodology, ensuring accuracy and relevance to ongoing project conditions.
  • Conduct cross-discipline manpower forecasting to assess and report required resource needs, including for tender or proposal assessments.
  • Perform progress measurement using project schedules, generating weightings and progress curves through available software. Regularly report project progress, providing up-to-date progress reports.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly project reports by providing status tables, S-curves, and narratives detailing achievements, challenges, and corrective actions.
  • Analyse and propose alternative work methodologies ("what if" scenarios) to improve scheduling and project outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain progress measurement systems, including the setup of engineering and construction deliverable measurement systems. Track and update progress with inputs from engineering and construction managers to monitor forecasted deliverable and completion dates.

Required skills/experience/knowledge:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification preferred.
  • Recognized qualifications in project planning or scheduling are an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of planning and scheduling requirements in EPC and EPCM projects.
  • Proficient in project planning activities, including schedule development and management.
  • Expertise in Primavera P6 software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and advanced skills in MS Excel.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, covering upstream, downstream, processing, and both onshore and offshore projects.
  • Extensive experience across various project types, including offshore installations and commissioning.
  • Preferable experience in a construction project environment.

  • Ability to critically evaluate and approve/reject project plans and progress measurement systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a detail-oriented and methodical approach.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
