Job Description and summary:
Develop process safety-related safety alerts, bulletins, and lessons learned, and deputize for the Technical Process Safety Lead as required.

The Senior Process Safety Engineer is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive understanding of regulations, company procedures, and best practices, while providing timely technical/process safety engineering advice to onshore and offshore teams. Leads asset Barrier Model reviews, assures the standard of process safety risk assessments, supports the 10 elements of company SEMS, and actively seeks areas for safety improvement. Additionally, participates in incident investigations, monitors and reviews technical/process safety processes, and provides oversight on activities impacting major accident hazards, supporting regulator visits and facilitating risk assessments.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough hazard analyses, including HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID, What-IF, FMEA, and SIL assessments.
  • Assure the standard of process safety risk assessments for operational activities and proposed modifications, e.g. Safety Critical Elements Risk Assessment (SCRA), Hazard Identification (HAZID), Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) etc.
  • Support and promote the technical/process safety element of the company’s SEMS elements across the business
  • Undertake the role of Performance Standard Owner for nominated Performance Standards
  • Assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of a process safety reporting system PSPIs including relevant KPI’s.
  • Responsible for continually monitoring performance standards through audit and review to ensure that associated schedule and maintenance strategies are appropriate in the asset SECE lifecycle.
  • Support and participate in Process Safety audits, conduct Safety Critical Risk Assessment (SCRA) / Operational Risk Assessment (ORA) reviews, input and facilitate risk assessments to support decisions.
  • Liaise with the ICP to resolve actions raised during periodic verification visits and be responsible for continually assessing the suitability of verification schemes.
  • Facilitate and coordinate HAZIDs, Risk Assessments, P&ID reviews, ALARP studies, and Major Accident Hazard Screening, ensuring maintenance of screening/assessment standards
  • Provide Process Safety support for the Management of Change process, including reviewing AFA’s, TQ’s, P Forms, and WMS deferrals and Change Requests.
  • Plan, participate, coordinate, and provide technical input for Safety Case Thorough Review and COMAH Safety Report reviews.
Professional Skills and Experiences
  • Well-rounded work experience preferred, with significant direct experience in either oil & gas operations or onshore support role closely linked to oil & gas operations.
  • Previous experience as a technical safety professional in the oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory regime .
  • Appreciation of Human Factors and the impact on Process Safety.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent and risk management qualification with considerable technical experience in a similar role.
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent in Safety and Reliability Engineering preferred
