About our client and project
Our client, a leading player in the engineering sector, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their dynamic team. The project focuses on a major port project, which aims to expand and enhance the port capacity by reconfiguring rail infrastructure. The team, based in Perth, is composed of skilled professionals working on several major projects for tier 1 mining clients, specialising in the delivery of major projects, particularly within the BHP portfolio.
The role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be seen as a “junior project manager” that is capable of driving the successful delivery and completion of a heavy haul rail infrastructure project. This position is based in Perth and reports directly to the Project Manager. The role has opened due to the expansion of the project scope.
Responsibilities
- Monitor progress and performance against the project plan, taking action to resolve issues and minimise risks and delays.
- Control cost performance against the plan, developing and implementing project controls, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Ensure work complies with scope and meets quality and operational requirements.
- Prepare schedules for design work and obtain approvals for flow sheets and drawings.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
- Interface with the client to ensure effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree with 8+ years of experience in project engineering and management.
- Demonstrated experience in rail projects and a strong understanding of the rail project delivery process.
- Previous rail shutdown experience is advantageous.
- Strong background in developing and implementing schedules, cost estimates, and coordination.
- Proven project management skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver work within budget, timeframe, and customer requirements.
