Airswift has been tasked by one of our major clients to search for an Senior Protection & Controls Engineer to work with a major EPC company on a REMOTE contract-to-perm assignment.
You will support Substation and Transmission projects with focus on electrical protection and control activities for the client and its Customers as an integral part of the Power Networks team.
Responsibilities:
Independently perform tasks that typically include:
- Technical execution of complex protection and control project assignments applied to both brownfield and greenfield projects for various clients.
- Preparation of engineering drawings and documents, calculations, and other miscellaneous deliverables as required.
- Supervise/coordinate other engineers of equal and lesser experience to successfully deliver a project.
- Complete tasks in accordance with project procedures, applicable codes and/or standards, on schedule and within budget.
- Discuss technical problems and communicate effectively with other project personnel and outside Customers.
- Perform independent audits and reviews of technical work.
- Perform proposal preparation, proposal estimates, and provide input to scope documents and client presentations.
- Perform the function of a team leader that is capable of solving complex issues and act as a lead engineer responsible for the quality of the deliverables.
- Work in a team-oriented environment with ability to work independently or as part of a group when and as required.
- Interface with other departmental staff, project management, and with outside Customers.
- Ability to travel to job sites to perform site walkdown.
- Responsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable drawing standards and responsible for the proper document management procedures are followed.
What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
- Extensive experience in protection and control engineering for switchyards and substations including supervisory experience (up to and including 500kV voltage class stations).
- Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
- Has a competent understanding of regulations, electrical codes, manufacturing standards and industry standard practices.
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Self-motivated, organized, and be able to work independently.
- Ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and written communication skills that permit working efficiently alongside senior substation engineers and designers in a team setting.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
- 4 or 5 year Batchelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States is preferred.
