The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the operation of streetlights that are either owned by Company Client or Energex. This includes regular inspections, maintenance programs, investigate requests for public lighting compliance, maintain lighting electrical reticulation, implement appropriate lighting solutions as well as investigating and resolving customer complaints such as spill lights.
Responsibilities:
- Complete all work to Company Client procedures, policy and standards and ensuring review of these to maintain effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide technical advice and prepare preliminary road lighting designs (P Category and V Category), sketch plans and job briefs in accordance with AS1158, Energex Public Lighting Manual and Company Client’s Street Lighting Design Guidelines.
- Investigate and resolve requests for road lighting improvement and spill light issues by carrying out site inspections, participating in community consultation, determining required action and advising complainant of intended action.
- Accurately input data and maintain Company Client Lighting asset registers and databases and carry out auditing of database records and where necessary, take appropriate actions to resolve inaccuracy and exceptions.
- Attend and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders and report on progress and issues as required.
- Work in partnership with your team leader to agree performance standards and mutual expectations. Give and receive regular feedback to enable performance to be improved and take personal responsibility for optimising your potential within Company Client.
Essential:
- Extensive skills and knowledge of the principles and practices of road lighting as contained in the AS/NZS 1158 for road lighting (P Category and V Category).
- Extensive skills and knowledge of the principles of obtrusive light as contained in AS/NZS 4282.
- Proven ability to inspect and assess lighting requests and implement appropriate compliant road lighting solutions.
- Knowledge of and experience with software used for lighting design.
- Strongly developed verbal and written communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with, and influence groups and individuals at all levels in the organisation including elected representatives, external customers and suppliers.
- Ability to coordinate, plan and efficiently implement public lighting maintenance work programs with limited supervision in a team environment.
- Ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards to contribute to a culture of performance excellence.
- 8. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to manage competing priorities to meet tight deadlines and deliver quality service standards.
Desirable:
- Possession of a recognised qualification within the lighting field
- Professional membership from the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia & New Zealand (minimum Member grade) or equivalent.
- A Queensland Open drivers’ licence.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform as Technical Authority for ICT Discipline Engineering.
- Assist to plan, define, award and manage various Engineering Contractor’s technical deliverables for both basic engineering and detailed design, as well as their timely issuance to support construction and integration activities.
- Assist to plan, define and award and manage Package Vendor’s technical deliverables and equipment delivery.
- Assist to plan and define refurbishment & life extension scope of work related to ICT. This activity may involve site inspection of the candidate vessel and existing documentation gathering and cataloguing.
- Prepare project-specific discipline-related technical specifications and drawings with regards to all Client, Company and Classification Society requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Client basis of design and corporate specifications.
- Prepare, interface with client and maintain a deviation request list with regards to all Client specifications.
- Ensure that all contractors and vendors, and the overall project design meet the contractual, Classification Society and technical requirements related to ICT engineering discipline.
- Responsible for ensuring development and consolidation of ICT-discipline engineering registers/lists, using input from the other disciplines.
- Assist in interface engineering registers, P&IDs, calculations and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with Safety Studies recommendations and best practices.
- Provide technical discipline support to EIT System/E-House Contractor in conjunction with the EIT Package Manager.
- Interface with Operations to define, finalize and support the procurement of 2-year operation and capital where applicable.
- Assist trouble-shooting during construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning, through to start-up, and including during operating regime.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Telecommunications/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related fields
- Graduated in the years 2022 and 2023.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint etc.,
- Knowledge in various protocols for interoperability, performance evaluation and troubleshooting the issues.
- Established track records as a problem solver and effective team player.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and manage parallel time-critical tasks.
- Must be proactive, independent, self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
- Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
