Responsibilities:
- Supervise and quality control geological operations at the wellsite
- Quality control sample descriptions of cuttings and cavings
- Act as liaison with key drilling and data acquisition personnel at the wellsite and in the office in a timely manner
- Supervise and quality control data acquisition activities at the wellsite
- Monitor ROV feed for shallow flow or adverse conditions during riderless drilling.
- Ensure all geological and data acquisition contractors perform their duties in a satisfactory manner.
- Perform Well-site log correlation and aid in the selection of casing points and TD.
- Generate and deliver daily geological reports and data distribution.
- Produce a well data book with all well events and information included.
- Support delivery of a post-well Composite Log
- Cuttings and cavings report informing on well conditions.
- Final Well Report at the end of each hole section and the well.
- Evaluate and interpret geological data including cuttings samples and offset well data.
- Communicate to the well-site team regarding upcoming geological hazards
- Proactively inform the well-site team of imminent section/well TD
- Ensure that all well information, including reports, data, and logs are uploaded daily
Qualifications:
- A post-secondary degree in geology or a related field of study
- 10 years of experience in wellsite and operations geology working in or around offshore
Newfoundland (20 years minimum experience for Senior Wellsite Geologist Role). - Capability to work offshore in Newfoundland, including certification or fitness to obtain certification for offshore safety and survival (Sponsorship not available)
- (Preferred) Professional Geologist designation (PEG-NL or equivalent).
