Airswift is supporting a green energy metal mining company with offices in Oslo as well as Stavanger.

We are seeking an experienced Principal Permits and Approvals Specialist, who will be responsible for supporting project teams in securing permitting, licenses and regulatory approvals across the green energy sector.




Key Responsibilities and background:

  • Securing project permits, licenses, regulatory approvals and consents
  • Lead the development and implementation of the permitting strategy and schedule
  • Adhoc support in the Norway project portfolio as may develop.
  • Ensure that all applicable regulatory requirements are identified and specifically communicated to the Commercial and Project teams
  • In conjunction with the Communities Team, manage engagement with a range of government agencies, NGOs, community members and other stakeholder groups as part of the permitting and approval process
  • Manage work undertaken by approval consultancies and coordinate the exchange of information between the consultancy, project team and internal subject matter experts
  • Technical review of permitting documents, supporting studies and scopes of work
  • Work with  Projects team to ensure that project-related permitting and approval processes are delivered effectively, in a timely manner and in line with agreed project schedule
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders including the Regional Lead, Europe & UK, as well as other team members covering Commercial, Communities, and other activities
  • Tracking and reporting on project permitting status
  • Maintain and foster a working environment which promotes safety in all that we do.



Critical Skills & Personal Attributes:
  • A graduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent (post graduate qualifications also highly regarded).
  • Experience in an environmental or permitting role within the resources sector, energy industry or equivalent.
  • Major project greenfield permitting and approval experience (including Environment and Social Impact Assessment, Impact Assessment Studies etc.)
  • Significant experience within Norway.
  • Experience in the provision of advice and recommendations on project development in relation to relevant assessment criteria.
  • Knowledge of environmental management and impact mitigation methodologies, relevant to energy generation, linear infrastructure, port and industrial processes.
  • Advanced reporting writing, research, interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Proficiency in risk identification and budget forecasting.
  • Experience in water and land access approvals is highly regarded.
