On behalf of our clients we are looking for a motivated Naval Architect Engineer to join the  marine division (“marinEV”) to develop exciting solutions for electric harbour craft and charging infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a proactive work attitude with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a wide range of complex and time sensitive tasks.
In this position, you will provide project execution and technical support to drive the growth of new business opportunities. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in ship design who takes pride in developing the most energy efficient vessel no matter the size.
Core responsibilities: In this position, you will provide project execution and technical support to drive the growth of new business opportunities. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in emerging technologies related to marine electrification, battery, propulsion, power electronics and smart grid design.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical development of naval design for different marine EV applications to achieve the optimal energy efficiency and functionality for the desired profiles.
  • Propose conceptual hull designs, main equipment selection and preliminary performance estimates to support project and business development activities.
  • Technical evaluation of ship design solutions from 3rd party consultants. Provide timely feedback to drive progress forward.
  • Use simulation software to produce power, resistance and speed curves.
  • Evaluate different emerging technologies to assist with drag reduction for adoption on projects. I.e. dynamic / fixed foils, air lubrication for hull, transom interceptors etc.
  • Support the development of a robust marine system design that can be used across a number of ship types. This include but is not limited to propulsion and steering system, HVAC, navigation and communication.
  • Support business development with technical sale functions such as pitches, slide preparation and follow ups with potential stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Institute of Higher Learning and Research Institute in Singapore on the development of cutting-edge technologies and manufacturing practices.
  • Work with engineering contractors and equipment vendors to develop optimal solution within the project’s schedule and budget constraints.
  • Support the project team with the review and preparation of naval and marine deliverables (schematics, datasheets, calculation, drawings).
  • Support / prepare project-specific discipline-related technical specifications and drawings with regards to all Client, Company and Classification Society requirements.
  • Proactively manage the interfaces of the project to ensure relevant inputs are received timely for incorporation into the design. This involves good coordination with the team internally as well as Client, Class and vendors externally.
  • Assist troubleshooting during construction, mechanical completion and commissioning phase of the project.
  • Support the operations team with technical advice, troubleshooting and optimization of the company’s fleet of vessels.
  • Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging technology, improvements and absorbing new practices from the market.
  • Other tasks as required.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in a technical subject
  • Office Tools – MS Office Cad Tools
  • Performance Prediction Software
  • Know-how in naval architect and marine systems engineering.
  • 5 – 7 years of relevant experience
  • Able to write Technical Reports
  • Experience in electric / hybrid vessel and propulsion design
