Job Overview
Airswift is currently in search of an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our client on an initial 12-month contract at one of their facilities in Perth CBD.

In this role, we are looking for a highly skilled Principal Structural Engineer who will lead a team of engineers and designers within a dedicated office. Your primary responsibilities will include scoping and overseeing the technical delivery of sustaining capital projects related to a Tier 1 Iron Ore operator portfolio, while ensuring accountability for all aspects related to budget and schedule.

What you will be doing
  • Reporting to the engineering manager, deliver structural engineering services that meet the client’s, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Perform supporting tasks such as:
    • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
    • Clarification of project scope and identify changes to the lead structural engineer as per project change management processes.
    • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations, etc. Support technical development of solutions, recommendations and creates final documentation for project deliverables.
  • If required, supervise structural drafting to deliver project requirements.
  • Support the project management team on specific projects where the responsibility includes:
    • Scope management.
    • Promotion of workshare.
    • Cross disciplinary coordination to ensure successful delivery of Customer’s requirement.
  • Support effective communication with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

What you will bring
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant years of experience in structural engineering design within the resource sector.
Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers and designers.
  • Previous experience in advanced analysis techniques such as dynamic analysis and nonlinear fracture mechanics.
  • Familiarity with fit-for-purpose design for non-process infrastructure facilities.
  • Proficiency in applicable local and international standards, as well as statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of Spacegass and/or StaadPro software.
  • Experience with BHP or Rio Tinto Iron design requirements.
  • Comfortable working across multiple platforms and environments, including Microsoft 365 suite and various collaboration tools.
  • Experience working in teams with diverse backgrounds and dispersed geographic locations is advantageous.
