We’re looking for a Project Engineer (Structural) to join one of our biggest clients in Australia. This role is a minimum 9-month contract with possibility of extension working in the Pilbara region on a 2:1 roster.

What you’ll do

  • Maintaining a HSE focus in the team to ensure OHSE requirements are included in design and procurement.
  • Establish, maintain and build healthy client relationships and resolve project issues with the client as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with WPMP, with the requirements of the contract and apply effective change control process.
  • Monitor cost aspects of the project within direct control and forecast final costs, identify trends and take action to avoid cost overruns.
  • Effective and clear communication with design team and third parties and accurate and effective reporting to the project manager.
  • Set clear objectives to the design team and manage inter-discipline interfaces effectively.
  • Assist where required with the procurement process throughout the project to ensure goods meet specification, are delivered on time and within budget.
  • You will be reporting to the Project Director. 

What you’ll have

  • A recognised engineering degree in civil / structural engineering.
  • Experience in bridge / marine installing pilings into underground water bodies, must understand nuances of implementing pilings on site.
  • Experience in mining environment (iron ore) is preferred.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is preferred.
  • Previous technical, practical and leadership experience in the relevant discipline and proven experience in leading a discipline design group.
  • You will be an enthusiastic team player, with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Current Australian Working rights 
     

About the project

Rio Tinto - Western Range

The construction of the project commenced in early 2023, with first 
production expected in 2025. The Western Range project will have a  production capacity of 25 million tonnes of iron ore per year, thereby maintaining production of the Pilbara Blend from Rio Tinto's existing Paraburdoo mining hub.

Flights from Perth to Paraburdoo take just over 1.5 hours followed by a chartered bus ride of 25 minutes to the camp site.
