Our client seeks an experienced Safety Lead Engineer to join the client's office in Paris, France for a 6 months (renewable) contract.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The SUBCONTRACTOR will be involved in Maturity review, Clarifications/ Qualifications/ Endorsement activities, Safety layout mark-up for Safety Equipment and F&G Detection MTOs (Material Take-Off), support to the HSED proposal Coordinator for manhours estimate.

The SUBCONTRACTOR will integrate into the HSED team as Safety engineer. He/She will report to the Safety Lead of the project he/she is involved in.
TASKS:
  • Identify and qualify Major Accident Events.
  • Design and implement prevention, control, mitigation, and protection measures.
  • Provide safe design which ensure to protect Personnel, Environment and Assets, by carrying-out the following activities and associated deliverables.
  • Preliminary risk analysis.
  • Safety reviews participation (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, etc.).
  • Plot plan reviews, and 3D model reviews.
  • Identification of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) & associated Criticality rating.
  • Hazardous area classification.
  • Passive fire protection.
  • Cold spill protection.
  • Active fire protection (firewater pumps station design, fire-fighting network and deluge systems studies, hydraulic balance calculations).
  • Flammable gas, toxic gas and fire detection.
  • Personnel protection.
  • Escape, Evacuation & Rescue.
  • Specification and requisition for firefighting and personnel protection equipment, technical bid evaluation and vendor follow up.
The SUBCONTRACTOR shall perform the following general activities:
  • Safety engineering leadership:
  • The SUBCONTRACTOR will in charge of all safety activities and to produce safety deliverables by hil/herself. He/She expected to develop deliverables of good quality considering the Project constraints (e.g. contractual requirements, budget & schedule).
  • Safety engineer(s) could be assigned punctually or full time to the project; in this case, he/she oversees organisation of the Safety team and checking of deliverables produced by other(s).
  • He/She is responsible for the schedule and the budget.
  • Feedback shall be formalized and shared with the CONTRACTOR Safety Department.
  • develop deliverables of good quality with the Project schedule and Project milestones
  • manage interfaces with the Project Management Team, the Client, the Partners, and the other disciplines (P&ID Department, Process Department, Piping & Material Department, Civil Department, E&I Department, Package Department, etc.), and with the other involved operating centers.
  • prepare replies to COMPANY comments.
  • prepare Engineering Queries where clarifications are required from COMPANY.
  • raise inconsistencies in the Basis of Design to CONTRACTOR attention.
  • participate to regular meeting with company’s Safety Head of Department.
  • issue weekly report to CONTRACTOR.
  • attend meetings when Safety representative is required.
  • perform the Safety engineering activities in accordance with Project procedures developed by CONTRACTOR (ex. Interface management, COMPANY communication, document numbering, HSE, quality…).
  • Propose technical optimizations and Capex optimizations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master of Science Degree in Engineering, preferably Safety or Process.
  • Well-established knowledge of Safety engineering activities: Hazardous Area Classification, Detection, Active and Passive Fire Protection, Personnel Protection, Escape Evacuation & Rescue.
  • Well-established knowledge of International Safety Codes & Standards (NFPA standards, API practices, IP codes, European regulation, etc.), and Major COMPANY Safety Specifications.
  • Well-established knowledge of Process technologies used on the project the SUBCONTRACTOR is involved in
  • Sound judgment in technical matters with good skills in plant design optimization/modification.
  • Working proficient in English.
  • Working proficient in using common computer tools (Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Power point, Adobe Acrobat, etc).
  • Good Teamwork and inter-personal skills to assert themselves in a multicultural environment.
  • Commitment, proactivity, strictness (including traceability of source, comments & modifications), task planning and delegation, ability to interface inside and outside the HSED team, etc.), ability to easily communicate, ability to analyse/ solve problems and arbitrate technical choices, leadership.
  • Significant experience of more than ten years in Safety engineering in oil and gas industries, petrochemistry, energy transition and/or mining.
