Airswift is seeking a Technical Editor to work for a major Oil & Gas client in Calgary, AB. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of being extended.

The Technical Editor is responsible for assisting in reviewing, editing, and managing/coordinating content for Company Canada’s operations and maintenance procedures.

Key Accountabilities

• Develops and refines technical documents, manuals, bulletins, brochures, publications, training manuals, and special reports.
• Develops and maintains technical documentation and process documentation.
• Organizes and coordinates the composition of material and drafting of forms suitable for reproduction.
• Reviews and edits prepared material and illustrations.
• May oversee the writing, editing, publishing, and distribution of specification documents.
• Analyze requirements, develops source material, and consults engineering and technical staff as a subject matter expert.

Primary Duties


• Work closely with Operations Integrity Team to support QA/QC review, editing, and publishing of procedures and technical training manuals.
• Updates existing product documentation according to company standards and guidelines.
• Actively works to address change requests and feedback with each document review and release cycle.
• Establishes and implements standardized documentation templates and formats that will be used to capture operating procedures.
• Maintains up-to-date documents and processes in user-accessible locations, such as department Intranet or network drives.
• Documents complex technical subjects in ways that are easy to understand.
• Writes, edits, and/or proofreads various technical and training documents.
• Maximizes the clarity and impact of written content.
• Organizes information into an appropriate structure, format, and style.
• Manages document version control.

Qualifications


• Bachelor’s degree in business, Journalism, English, Marketing, Communication, or similar, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ years as a technical writer, preferably writing engineering documentation.
• 3+ years as a technical writing editor (peer reviews, editing others’ work for content and style)
• Ability to build a program from the ground up those scales with business needs.
• Demonstrated proficiency in editing, spelling, and grammar.
• Set priorities and escalate issues appropriately.
• Demonstrate mastery with tools, including SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and Adobe products.
• Excellent communication skills – not limited to writing abilities.
• Obsessive about technical accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent writer and overall communicator.
• Analytical and organized, excellent time manager.
• A record of successful delivery of a variety of user-focused operating procedure type documentation.
• Ability to work closely with operations to understand their processes to ensure they are accurately reflected in the operating procedures.


Work Conditions

• Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day; with a hybrid work plan of 3 days working from the office (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays) and 2 days working from home (Wednesdays and Fridays).
• Flexibility to work overtime and outside normal office hours on occasion, when required for project delivery.
