Airswift is working for one of our major Oil and Gas clients to find a Construction Supervisor to join their team on a 1-year contract in Calgary. Significant travel to work sites across Alberta and Saskatchewan will be required.

The Construction Specialist will have a solid understanding of pipeline and station repairs and construction. Key responsibilities include, in conjunction with project managers, planning and execution of the company’s activities for integrity digs, in-line inspections, annual Integrity programs, tank repairs, construction programs, and small projects.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Be a leader in Safety and champion safe work practices to achieve zero incidents.
  • Implement the company’s Transportation Operating Management System (TOMS), applicable Safety, Operating or industry standards, and Regulatory and OH&S legislation.
  • Support the response to Construction-related emergencies per the company’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Develop and implement a Competency Management Program for project Representatives.

Implementation Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evaluation, selection, resourcing, and oversight of the Field Representatives.
  • Promote consistency and collaborate with Project Managers concerning desktop studies, design reviews, the scope of works, schedules, estimates, risk and constructability reviews, execution plans, Contractor selection, construction workface planning, construction monitoring, turnover, and close-out.
  • Align construction activities with Field Operations, Maintenance, and Oil Movement teams.
  • Consolidate and report the progress of construction activities, ensuring Field Representatives and Contractors deliver work as planned.
  • Support budgeting and cost control of Construction activities to drive efficiency and improvements.
  • Work with the Quality team to ensure QA/QC and turnover documents are completed accurately, on time, and effectively handed over.
  • Implement the company and construction processes, procedures, and templates for continuous improvement.
  • Work with the Representatives and Contractors to ensure construction commitments are met.
  • Other support as needed from the Implementation team.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • 10+ years of industry experience in pipeline and station repair and construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence Construction personnel and Contractors.
  • A journeyperson designation, technical diploma, engineering degree, or active membership in ASET.
  • API 1169 and 1184 Pipeline and Facility Construction Inspector certifications are an asset.
  • Familiarity with construction industry codes and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and computer skills.

Location and Hours:

  • This is a safety-sensitive role, based at our Calgary office with frequent site visits.
  • Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada, hold a valid Class V driver’s license with a clean driving record, and pass drug and alcohol screening, and credential checks.
